January 4, 201610 yr Anyone get a chance to listen to Stoops today? I watched his press conference and came away with thinking the man is uncomfortable as being a head coach. It appears he still thinks he is only in charge of the defense. I heard him say several times today "our side" of the ball when he talked defense. Then he admits he can't fix the offense. When he spoke of Eddie Gran today him spoke of him as being the head coach of the offense. Does this concern UK fans that they basically have 2 Cordinators running the team? I like Stoop, but after today I really believe he is in over his head. Thoughts?
January 5, 201610 yr Todays press conference was the end of the line for me. The last straw so to speak.
January 5, 201610 yr Personally I would prefer it if Stoops has more of a role on defense and less of a role on offense. After all he's a defensive minded coach. Let the OC control the offense, that's what their getting paid to do unless I misunderstand something...

January 5, 201610 yr Well, he did lie about that today, he said the OC has always had 100% control of the offense. If I had to guess, I would imagine he did lie about that. I don't doubt that he had a slight influence over the offense, however I doubt it was as much as some think. Personally I believe he wanted Barker to get a chance earlier in the season than he did. When Dawson would not give Barker a chance I believe Stoops forced his hand and told him to play Barker. At that point there was nothing to lose, as the offense was already terrible.

Let the OC control the offense, that's what their getting paid to do unless I misunderstand something... Issue with being so defense minded your offense ends up like it has the first 3 years. I believe you need a Coach that understands both sides of the ball. He admitted today he cant fix offense issues. So if he cant fix them then he needs to resign.
January 5, 201610 yr So if he cant fix them then he needs to resign. Or hire an OC that is capable of doing their job, so he doesn't have to make decisions for them. The jury is still out whether that happened with the recent hires or not, time will tell. And no he shouldn't resign. He was hired as a DC coordinator with zero head coaching experience. If he fails as a HC because he can't be the OC as well as the HC, then that's on Mitch.
January 5, 201610 yr 3 OC's in 3 years, is like the friend you have who's had 3 new girlfriends in 3 months, all being "the one" at some point.
January 5, 201610 yr 3 OC's in 3 years' date=' is like the friend you have who's had 3 new girlfriends in 3 months, all being "the one" at some point.[/quote'] To be fair the first one left for a HC gig. Dawson didn't work out.
January 5, 201610 yr To be fair the first one left for a HC gig. Dawson didn't work out. Do we know that he got along with Brown?
January 5, 201610 yr I couldn't tell who was in charge of anything. Isn't it the HC's job to have his players buy into the system and play as a team. Obviously the OC and DC weren't getting it done either. The head coach is permitted to make strong suggestions to the OC and DC if things aren't working out in their perspective area's correct? The players did just enough to keep their schollys, nothing more. The players that are leaving know what the future holds for UK football, and it isn't looking good.
January 5, 201610 yr Many times an OC or a DC actually are the Head Coach. Nothing new in that at all. Just saying.
January 6, 201610 yr Frustrated with the program. I'm ready to jump off the Stoops wagon. I'm beginning to believe he doesn't have the 'it' to be the coach. Allows too much nonsense to go on with suspect talent. I've championed his recruiting but now think that Vince Marrow is more important than Stoops is. Can I keep the TE coach that recruits like a star and get rid of the HC?
