Didn't Ryle just spank Franklin on their own court? SK took losses to Mercer and Lincoln, and you moved them up? Anderson spanked Holmes pretty good. If Holmes is in the poll, shouldn't Anderson be there also?

As a whole I can account for over 100 games the members saw over Christmas, maybe more but no less. How many have you seen? This is a poll of the best teams, wins or losses. If BGP ranks on who beats who then its a bad poll. Given the great basketball mind I know you have I feel you understand this. So I am going to attribute this to you driving posts as you have also told the others who have posted a poll on here how bad theirs are. Cantrell released theirs also. Start a thread and bash them. :thumb:

I'm not bashing, I'm disagreeing. Live and on tape I saw about 40 games in the last 4 weeks. Although I admit, I look at regions 8-11 primarily. Ryle seems to be consistently under rated, so there must be something there I am not seeing. Same with SK, but to me , they seem to be consistently over rated. I was more impressed with Anderson's win over Holmes than those compiling the two polls listed.

This is the most accurate list I've seen. Great Job!

I think this looks pretty darn good for now. I like the BGP rankings the best because I feel they look at the who are really the best teams. Teams have ups and downs (including good wins and bad losses)...it's a long year. But BGP tends to look at more than just stats and records, they use common sense and knowledge of the talent and what's going on with those teams.

 

As I look at my own team...I would say HHS is overrated right now the way they are playing. They are winning and their only two losses are close and to teams on the list. But they aren't playing to their potential right now.

 

However, when you look at what they have done with the reality of whats going on with them, then you have to give them some credit and understand that when everything comes together, they will be about right where they have them on the list...if not higher.

The top 11 teams from the BGP poll and Cantrell's poll are the same, just slightly different orders. Focusing on those teams as of today, the themes that resonate with me:

 

1) Etown continues to be a favorite

2) 6/7 Regions will be a major factor if Etown slips

3) Wide open to rest of the state if 1 and 2 prove erroneous

 

BTW 7 of the top 11 teams currently will be participating in the LIT in a few weeks. The LIT should provide significant insight to each of the teams ability to play against multiple quality opponents.

I agree that the list is fairly accurate. You could always move a team up or down a little......but this could very easily be the best 20 teams in the state (in some order). Teams deal with injuries, good nights and bad nights, and other issues.....but I think a poll should try to pick the best teams and then the hard part is to rank them.

Hey I applaud your opinion, I really do. Wish we had more fans on the womens side. Anderson is a good team. Just got a quality win over Holmes. Simon Kenton is playing without one of their best players, and they still continue to win and play teams tough( Mercer and others). I have watched them at all their games at Lexington Catholic and a few others over Christmas. Again this poll is a collaboration of a committee of people who see teams from regions 1-16.

This is really the first poll where we have enough results to debate, so I'm debating. I see the Maher poll has an SOS index and SK's is very high, so maybe I'm a little hard on my own program. SK gets ETown this week and I'm hoping they stay within 10. I didn't realize Ryle had 4 losses.

Ryle is good. Etown is a bear.

3 of these 4 games very close, all on the road as well, I believe. And solid wins against #10 and #12. l

 

Agree, there is generally an under-rating of Ryle, they are doing well with a brutal schedule. I expect good things for them come tourney time.

Glad to see some love for teams in the 8, 9, 10 regions!
