Several top aides to Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson resigned on Thursday, citing frustration with the influence of the retired neurosurgeon's business manager and questioning his readiness for the White House.

 

Barry Bennett and Doug Watts, both seasoned political operatives, stepped down with less than five weeks before voters in Iowa begin the nominating process with the state's Feb. 1 caucuses.

 

Bennett was Carson's campaign manager. Watts was communications director. But Bennett said Carson's longtime business manager, Armstrong Williams, is the adviser who has Carson's ear, even though Williams does not have a formal role in the campaign.

Lots of things I actually like about Ben personally, but his candidacy is so 2015...

I like Dr Carson, but never thought he would be in it for the long haul. Looks like he could be done in just a few weeks.

Where do his votes go?

I know some will say Rubio but I just don't see it.

I am still looking for Bush to gain some momentum, but not sure that many of Carson's followers will end up being behind Bush.

I agree Bush has to get going in some way. He has more endorsements and the most money.

If Bush is polling at 4-5% now, I just don't see it. All his money won't help at this point IMO. I don't have a big problem with him but he has two BIG things going against him...(1) his last name and (2) the surge of outside the mainstream politician thinking (led by Trump) by many Republicans. So many R's are absolutely sick of the establishment R's the last few years and they see Jeb as part of that problem.
