Though it wasn't at the time typical for what I was seeking musically, my fingers landed on this 1987 Alan Parson's release that intrigued me named Gaudi inspired after Antonio Gaudi the architect of the La Sagrada Familia never fully completed to this day intricately detailed cathedral in Barcelona Spain.

 

The song "La Sagrada Familia" is powerful, and still to this day gives me goose bumps.

 

The vocalist on it is John Miles who had a top 3 single in the UK with the song "Music"

 

The vocalist on the also moving 4th track "Standing On Higher Ground" is Geoff Barradale who had a minor hit as lead singer of the band Vitamin Z with their very nice emotional song "Burning Flame" during the MTV era.

Back in '87 when this album came out I was unaware of who Antionio Gaudi was, after doing a little research on the man and his "grandiose" vision, I was impressed with not only his vision on the Sagrada Familia, but also The Alan Parsons Project's dedication of the album to this unknown architect. I dig the "Closer to Heaven" track as well, and I too had never heard of the architect Gaudi, and this album is what brought him to my attention.

 

The Documentary looks very interesting, i'll have to check it out.

I thought the organ sounded good, but agree on the singing. The songs did sound a bit alike too.

I'm familiar with the band and the album cover, but I've never heard this album. I'll have to give it a spin.

 

Perhaps 10 to 15 years ago I caught King Crimson on main stage at Riverbend at a festival when Adrian Belew was the guitarist and they had a tall bald bassist named Tony Levin who played with wooden sticks attached to his fingers.
