Had a feeling Brossart wouldn't beat Newport this go around.

Nice leap in team growth for Newport to have lost to the Mustangs by 10 three weeks ago to turn around now and beat them by 10.

Newport should begin to hit their stride. They will contend.

Newport's athleticism caused Mustangs problems on offense tonight. They were never able to get into a rhythm tonight.

 

Low scoring game early 8-6 BB after one, and 20-14 Newport at the half.

 

Scoring picked up in the second half as Brossart outscored the Cats 14-11 in the third period, closing the gap to 31-28 Newport on top, and then the Cats hit all of their free-throws down the stretch to win by 10.

 

Newport held a fifteen point edge from the free-throw line, 20/26 to 5/7. As a result the Mustangs were in foul trouble and Jackson Crawford, the Mustang big fouled out mid-fourth.
