Holmes 71 Campbell County 66 (OT)

Featured Replies

Final from Covington.

Was told Holmes trailed by as many as 11 after leading by 5 at the end of the 1st qtr.

Bulldogs will meet Cooper tomorrow night.

Wilson and Hegyi both with 20 for CC.

McClendon leads Holmes with 26...Kid is really good.

Arnold 11, Moore 9, Greene 8...strong showing by the Bulldogs front court.

Nice come back by the Dogs, played some pretty good defense down the stretch. Campbell county has a very nice team, very impressed with Wilson, the young man plays hard. Andrew Arnold battled down low for Holmes and McLendon was solid. Should be an exciting game against the Jags tomorrow night. Best of luck to the Camels as they battle a very quick North College Hill team.

I'm going to be the one who mentions it. It was nice to see Miller back on the court after an early season injury that sidelined him a few games. He had a solid minutes and has a very nice basketball IQ. Seemed cool and collected down the stretch even though he missed a few big shots. Moore had a solid game. Arnold got hot after a cool start. McClendon played fantastic, once again. Only one game he has scored less than 20, and that was a 20 point victory against Lloyd. Wilson is very good, but got close to none touches in the overtime period. Fun game to watch. Can't wait to watch the Dawgs play Cooper tomorrow. Should be a low scoring game, as those games typically are. Best of luck to both teams!

Call me crazy but Wilson needs to have a touch every possession whether he shoots it or not. Offense needs to go through him. When the Camels do that they are and will be successful. When they get away from that they struggle.

Camels controlled this game from 2nd quarter on. Were up 6 or 8 with about 3:30 to play. Camels missed front end of one and one 4 times in last few minutes which would have put the game away. McClendon is a player. Hit some big shots. Camels let this one get away.

Sounds like they may have controlled it from the second quarter until about 3:30 left?

Yes, Campbell was in control of the game, Holmes pressure defense just wears on teams for an entire game. Campbell missed a few shots that they made early in the game and Holmes was double and at times it seemed even triple teaming Wilson.

Nice to see McClendon with 26. Haven't been following Holmes, but it'd be nice for him to wrap up his high school career leading his team deep into the playoffs.

Camels led by 2 with 7 seconds. Stripped McClendon with a double team which would have ended it but was called for questionable foul. Holmes made both FT for OT. Can't remember if Holmes ever had the lead in the 4th quarter. If so it was quick. Camels just missed opportunities to finish.

The Camels played a good game. Holmes seemed lackadaisical at times through out the entire game. Wilson was having his way in the paint. However, I am not a Listerman fan, but he made the defensive adjustment on Wilson and he was a non factor in the 2nd half.

The game was close but the mistake the Camels made when they try to go man to man for stint and they could not stay in front of McClendon and then Arnold woke up and they were back in the game and able to speed it up.

As for the officiating, there were questionable calls/non-calls at critical points. As sportfan13 mention the strip of McClendon, I agree that was questionable and probably the incorrect call. I also think it was just as critical when McClendon got hip checked on a breakaway and no call, then fouled again going making the pass another no call. Then there was the foul called that questionably could have been intentional but it was called just a 2 shot foul committed against Holmes' Englemen or Commodore (I forget which player went to the line at that point). Summary is there were missed/bad calls on both sides of the ball but the players kept playing which they should and the coaches kept coaching which they should. The outcome is a Holmes win. However, even with the subpar officiating, the Camels doomed themselves by missing the front-end of the 1-1s. The difference Holmes made free throws when it counted and the Camels didn't. Did CC play NCH in the consultation game.

Yes, NCH won, can't remember the score, but it was around 8 points.

Can someone give me a break down of the game. It seems to me that CC has more talent at its disposal than NCH, but the Thompson brothers are a special tandem in NCH's 3 headed guard attack.
