I believe Fox, Henry and L. Dunaway all play several minutes.

Yes, Bracken and Augusta will both grow and get better as the season progresses; but so will Mason county. This Royals team hasn't played a great game yet this season, but they have matured since the SK game. It's been clear to me in both games they are the best team in the district, and as long as they continue to improve I don't see that changing.

And Mason County wasn't in the bonus until 55 seconds left in the 4th quarter, compared to Augusta being in the bonus towards the end of the 3rd quarter, free-throws kept the game close last night.

I just don't understand the negative insinuations that "free throws kept them in the game". Like that is an unearned gift given, not earned and not a vital part of the game. What's up with that anyway?

How are they not? Especially with the new hand check rule, teams are given the opportunity to shoot any where from 10-40 points a night from the line.

Okay let's look at this from a different view since you seem to be an anti-Mason County type of person.

Say Augusta only beats Robertson Co by 11 and it was basically the same type of game this was. The Devils shoot three times as many free-throws as the Panthers do and make 85% of them.

You're gonna sit there and tell me that free-throws didn't keep them in the game?

Its all about adaptation. Teams and players have to adjust their style to comply with the rules. The teams that figure it out early will be more successful.

Not saying I like it at all, just saying thats hoe its going to be.

If you have a team that shoot a high % from the line then their offensiveive scheme will more than likely be drive to the basket and hope to draw contact. That is what they do to try and be successful. Its all about using your strengths to exploit the opponets weakness. Thats what teams do they form a stagety that puts them in a position to win. Some teams press to create havoc for teams that have less than stellar ball handlers. Some teams use a mulitude of zones to keep teams from useing the dribble drive especially if they do not shoot well from outside.

Its all about stragety and adaptation

Sure am. Free throws are more often than not earned as a result of some action. Maybe the offenses, maybe the defenses, whichever and occasionally a bad call and I will grant you potentially a gift then. The team that can take advantage of these opportunities by successfully converting kept themselves in the game. Probably my interpretation of your original post was wrong, as I felt you were demeaning scoring this way as "a gift, rather then acknowledging an overmatched team finding a way to be competitive".

By the way Royalwildcat, I am very much a Mason fan except when they play Augusta and Bracken Co. My reference to them as the Evil Empire is totally tongue-in-cheek.

Well said PolarBear 98.

Bracken and Augusta are like Kentucky and Lousville and Mason County is like Duke.
