December 17, 201510 yr Matt Jones @KySportsRadio Shannon Dawson out as UK Offensive Coordinator according to WKYT
December 17, 201510 yr I understand your point. My point is Butch Jones and Brian Kelly do not take the job at UK. They took the job at UC because it is easier to win there. UC, Houston, Arkansas State (Recently), Western Michigan, Bowling Green, etc. Those are the jobs up and coming coaches take because it is easier to win at those places than it is to win at UK. An up and coming coach would take a job at UK rather than be at a mid major. All coaches believe they can be the guy to tuen it around. An up and coming coach would know if he could get uk to even be a bowl team, then he would be loved and could use that to get a better job. UK however has never really even tried to go that route. Imo UK should try to embrace being a stepping stone job and even sell that to a coach. Then when the program does have some more sustained success, you eventually try to get a guy to then take the next step. I said it as soon as Brooks retired, that UK was in a great position and messed up by not opening up the search.
December 17, 201510 yr Let's stop pretending that the SEC East is some juggernaut of a division... It is not what it once was. UK could compete if they had the right pieces in place. Both on the field and on the sidelines wearing the head sets. Eventually playing in the SEC has to stop being an excuse. (I feel like that has been said 100 times on here.) I Agree. It got real old a couple of years ago.
December 17, 201510 yr It is far easier to win at UC than it is at Kentucky. Look no further than the conference and the schedule both schools play. That is why UC is a stepping stone and UK is a grave yard. The next coach that uses UK as a stewing stone job successfully will be the first I've since Bear Bryant unless you count Guy Morriss. It is a career killing job.

It's sad, but your completely right. Although I could argue that Bear didn't even use UK as a stepping stone. He more less left because he felt under appreciated. Coaches use schools like Louisville as stepping stones, generally when coaches leave Kentucky its because their career is done or it never got off the ground.
