With all due respect his speech to me anyway, is about what Americans think of our president / speech / job performance. Any one of us coud had recited most of it before he gave it ... Guns are bad, Ban guns, it's the GOP's fault (and I am not republican), Don't blame Islam ...yada yada yada. I think those along with "Bush's fault" is his answer for anything.

America needs a Leader, regardless if Democrat , Republican or Independent. President "OBlame-U" is anything but a leader. He has lost any and all ability to deal with anything, has lost confidence of a large pct of Americans and practically all Foreign Leaders, including our strongest allie ... Israel / Netanyahu. The man is not a leader, he is a divider and has no concept of how to deal with anything, be it small, large, foreign or domestic.

Bottom line ....IMO the worst president in the history of this great country.

I like using a quote from the great Martin Luther King ... I judge Obama on "not the color of his skin but the content of his character", of which is none.

I know I went on a rant and that's why I rarely if ever post on threads like this. That's just my honest and imo , correct opinion of the man.

And I agree with you on a lot of that stuff. But the point of this thread, which I'm beginning to think is going to fail miserably. Was to see if we could over look all of that, and actually discuss how the world is reacting to what was said last night.

Not sure how much could be taken from the speech from the international community. While it affirmed our desire to defeat terror threats, like most political speeches it was short on substance. It was not as if he was unveiling some kind of new plan worthy of garnering much feedback. The speech was more about rallying collective spirit. Again, the biggest mishap was waiting until now to deliver the speech.

 

I agree. I think this speech may have been a few days late. Wondering if we can see what the rest of the world thinks.

Thanks HC. I wasn't hoping to blow people away. Just hoping to discuss how the world reacts to what was said last night. That discussion could range from how we will destroy ISIS to how we shouldn't make it so easy for people to buy "assault rifle" type of weapons.

I was happy to hear President Obama finally admit that the Ft. Hood shooting was an act of terrorism. Seems like for the past 6 years or so, no one in his administration wanted to admit that.

Agreed, and it was almost as though he mentioned France, Germany and the U.K. as if to deflect calls for action. Because "we're all working together" Anyone read or heard how the rest of the world has felt about this portion of the speech?

To deflect calls of action? I wholeheartedly disagree. President Obama asked that Congress make a formal declaration of war. Including France, Germany & the UK was done to show that these problems & concerns are not isolated to the United States of America, but are global problems.
