Threatening Tweets Aimed at Black Kean Univ. Students Actually Sent by Black Alumna

I guess the protest wasn't exciting enough for her so she had to jazz it up a bit?! :idunno:

Black Kean U. alum threatened black students: officials - NY Daily News

A barrage of terrifying tweets directed at black students of a New Jersey university were actually made by a black alumna participating in a protest about racism, prosecutors revealed Tuesday.

Self-proclaimed activist Kayla-Simone McKelvey, 24, sent messages from an anonymous Twitter account menacing black students of Kean University in Union, N.J., starting Nov. 17, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

“i will kill every black male and female at kean university,” read one of the tweets from the account @keanuagainstblk, which has been suspended.

“black people at kean university will die #keanuniversity ” read another.

McKelvey received a summons for a single count of third-degree creating a false public alarm.

Prosecutors said McKelvey, who was participating in a protest about racism at universities, left midway through the rally and opened the account at a Kean library.

“McKelvey allegedly created an anonymous Twitter account and began posting racially charged threats of violence against black Kean students,” prosecutors said in a release.

After sending the tweets, McKelvey returned to the protest and spread the word about the threats she had just secretly made.

There was never any legitimate plan to harm students, prosecutors said.

McKelvey’s LinkedIn indicates she is a personal trainer who graduated Kean University this year with a physical education degree.

She did not respond to a request for comment and is due in court Dec. 14.

I read this story and it is absolutely crazy . It hurts the credibility of real threats.

It goes back to the Missouri protests when I asked what proof did we have that any of the acts took place and who committed them.

This is just plain sad. It makes one wonder how much of this stuff goes on to drum up support and media coverage.

I hope she gets the maximum sentence.

Believe this is the second instance this occuring. The other was a male who currently attended some college. I absolutely agree with protesting against real racism but when it is invented, it greatly harms such legit protest by making it appear there is no racism, only "created" racism.

My dad was in the upper administration there in the late 90s/early 2000s. I bet he is glad he isn't there right now. :lol2: :lol2:

Nothing to see here, move along.

It's just dumb there are enough racist and racism without manufacturing it.

Plus her fellow protestors she set into a panic. I doubt most of then knew she did this.

No doubt. My dad said during his time in New Jersey is when he was around the most open racism he has been around in his professional career.

That isn't surprising at all...the most open Racism I've seen is in Indiana and Ohio...not Kentucky and Tennessee, which is backwards from what most people think. Not that there aren't racist here or other places...just that the north seems to get a pass on racism that just isn't deserved.

Boston is the most racist city in America.

I've always heard that...
