Bullitt East 86 Warren Central 81

Featured Replies

Bullitt East trailed most of the second half, and were down 78-71 with 3 minutes left, but closed it in a hurry. A 6-0 run closed it to 78-77, and Bailey Rakes answered a Chance Shanklin three pointer with a bucket and free throw with one minute left as part of a 9-0 finish. In all, it was a 15-3 game-winning run for Bullitt East. Per Donald Yaste, Sharpe had 28 for Bullitt East and Rakes had 18.

So Close!!! This Warren Central team is a lot better then people have given them credit for being. They will be a force come tournament time!

Excellent basketball game! Had the feel of a regional battle, Warren Central is way underrated! Shot lights out until 3 minute mark! Two very good teams!

Maybe WC will provide a little resistance to DG and the Purples.

Like this Bullitt East team, they really get after you. Love how they play.

Darrell Bowman had 23 points and 18 rebounds for Central. Tristen Murray had 18. Bowman in particular is someone they'll have to have do well for them to have a shot at doing things this season. 6'6" guy with size, something they'll desperately need against Bowling Green. My guess is, he'll get in foul trouble against the Purples - they're very effective at taking charges and he'll have to be dealing with their size on defense. Still, he's really developed for them.

I tweeted out the stat, but this ended a 115 game winning streak for Central when they scored 81 or more. They hadn't lost in a game where they hit that mark since 2000. Hadn't lost one in regulation since 1990.

This is an impressive showing for Warren Central.

This game was played at a very high level, rarely have I seen two teams play this intense and this well on opening night, both teams solid at all 5 spots, no BS from any players, two well coached teams of men going at it.That's what high school basketball should be! Thanks fellas!

I totally agree. Great sportsmanship by both teams throughout the game and mutual respect shown by all.

Tyler Sharpe is the real deal. He'll be one of the leading scorers in the state this season.
