In relation to HS softball, there is an automatic slide rule at home plate "if there is a close play". This relies on the discretion of the umpire. This slide rule was also an attempt to avert injury.

 

Some umps will often motion to a player coming home if they can remain up to prevent them from a possible injury on an unnecessary slide.

Rule or no rule, still an amazing play!

 

I agree this was a very athletic play but without a doubt it is a safety hazard and the player is called out by rule...
