One thing the Region 1 teams will have to do to consistently compete with the upper tier of 3A Powerhouses will be finding a way to minimize 2-way players.

 

Coach Brown has Etown on the right path and he has some solid talent coming up from his Feeder Program. If he can keep that talent within the Etown hallways and not at one of the County Schools the Panthers will continue to get deeper and stockpile athletic talent and close that depth gap a little. Next year they may take a little step back...but if Etown Football were a stock they would definitely be worth buying.

Etown keeping their kids usually isn't the issue, it's the county (and surrounding) keeping theirs from going to Etown. They will be just fine

On a random side note I saw the highlights on WKYT and on the TD run by Jaylen Jones that appeared it should have been flagged as a False Start on the back. Jones definitely flinched forward.

 

Probably was so minor it didn't need to be called and if the television camera wasn't so zoomed in most probably would not have seen it...but being as though I watch too much football my response was definitely "Throw the flag".

I give credit when credit is due and yes that Elizabethtown player nailed the LC player, but when the previous play had a player laying across the goal line it should've resulted in 6.

 

Elizabethtown has got to play guys on 1 side of the ball. I think moving forward he probably will go to a one side of the ball philosophy. Very great team, staff, fans and facilities @ Elizabethtown so there's no excuse for kids to not want to play for a team that won 13 games in a row.

I could not find the WKYT clip but did he go forward or sideways. They do a sideways step with Jones right before the snap on most plays by design. It often looks like false start but its really 'motion'.

 

I am not sure why they do it.

 

Real motion with the wide-outs would add more the offense.

However, he doesn't have the size, athleticism, numbers or depth that he did at John Hardin. That might change, but E'town did it out of almost necessity this season.

But you have to be honest with E Town potentially facing Boyle, LexCath or Central don't you think the regular season would be a great way to get players ready? I know they want to win the whole thing so they have to think outside the box before the postseason arrives and you are playing one of the teams I mentioned.

We had a great year. 13-1 is outstanding, but schedule was white powder soft. I don't disagree with that for sure. Caldwell Co and PT were our best wins. Next year we should be ok again I believe because the schedule is the same. I am not sure if we play West Jessamine again because it was a bowl game. Let's hope we play someone more competitive. We lost 18-19 seniors and the majority of them played major roles. Semi finals was a great year!
