Jewell is very strong, weighs 165 or so and squats 500 lbs.

If these two teams meet again next year 35/44 starters will be back (barring injury) :eek:

At this point, for Belfry's players and especially the coaching staff, practicing and playing this late in the season is old hat. I think that gives them a bit of an advantage over a team not accustomed to it. This is business as usual for the Pirates. In the end, I think Belfry's big game experience outweighs Corbin's hunger for a shot at the school's first state title in 33 years.

I'm not seeing a blowout win like some are predicting.

 

I think Corbin matches up pretty well with Belfry defensively. They are big and strong and they move to the ball really well, IMO. Belfry will need to take care of the football and be patient, content with long drives and moving the chains. With Corbin platooning, the big OL from Belfry may not wear them down like they do some teams.

 

On the flip side, I think Belfry's defense matches well against Corbin's offense also. I don't think the Hounds will be able to run against the Pirates with sustained success. And I don't know if they have the playmakers to beat them through the air.

 

Should be a fun game to watch, and I will say it will be a game where the winner scores in the high 20's or low 30's and wins by a TD or two.

Belfry wins 34-12.

Great year for Corbin and glad to see them get back to the state semis, but this Belfry team is just on another level. Running clock in favor of the Pirates wouldn't shock me.
