November 5, 201510 yr Really happy to see Paintsville's own Chris Stapleton finally getting some major face time and recognition. The Steel Drivers CD is still one of my favorites. He and JT did a duet last night that was really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADuUQT_fPCw
November 5, 201510 yr Agreed. I couldn't stand to watch any more of the show than this performance. Guy has some range, maybe a cross between Greg Allman and Travis Tritt....(never thought I would put those two together in same sentance..)
November 5, 201510 yr Author Interesting arrangement for "Tennessee Whiskey." Took the old George Jones/DAC song and put it over a really similar if not exact version of Etta James "I'd Rather Go Blind."
November 5, 201510 yr I did not know he was in the Steeldrivers.Didn't realize it was the same guy. I saw my Facebook feed going crazy for their performance last night and looked it up. Awesome performance. His Tiny Desk session is good.

November 5, 201510 yr Author He played football and basketball at Johnson Central. Went to Vandy but dropped out to pursue music. His wife was the female singer on stage with him.
November 5, 201510 yr I've known about him from a little while but didn't know that he wrote Whiskey and You, that was on one of Tim McGraw's cds. Love that song.
November 5, 201510 yr Had never heard of him until last night. Shocked he won so many awards. Not a fan of the stuff I've listened to of his since last night, but I did really like their duo. JT is outstanding.

November 5, 201510 yr Author It's amazing how many songs he is credited with writing. My guess is he was making a solid living simply off of his writing.
November 5, 201510 yr My guess is he was making a solid living simply off of his writing. That's where the money is for sure!
November 5, 201510 yr I've seen him at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg a couple of times over the last few years. It's always been a great show. Glad to see him getting his due.
November 5, 201510 yr Check out his album Traveller. Pretty good stuff on there. Heard him recently say that he was grateful that Brad Paisley had bought him a new house via the proceeds from a song written by Chris.
