DragonFire
Happy with the defensive effort, but Central lost the game on red zone execution. Three empty trips inside the Gator 15, and an additional one inside their 25. Greenwood had a turnover inside the Dragon red zone as well, but by and large, I felt like both defenses did enough to win the game, Greenwood just got a bit more from their O. macdon
Hoptown pressures the defense with the go go spread offense. Beating the Tigers means sustained drives that eat clock and produce points. An objective look at Hoptown's schedule brings into question the quality of competition. Central has definitely played the tougher schedule, BUT Hopkinsville has big wins and Central has struggled to finish. The potential is there. 00Tyler10
Warren central beats Hoptown first round For all that's is good in this world, I hope so. I hope they absolutely obliterate H-town.
DragonFire
Regarding Hopkinsville, Warren Central has got to find a way to start better given that the depth could be their undoing late. This is a team that has failed to score in the first quarter of their last four games and has not scored an offensive point in the first half of the last three games (only a safety against Warren East in the first half). The defense has stood tall in most of those games, allowing only 34 first half points in the last five games (7 more came on the blocked punt return by South Warren), the lack of offensive movement has often placed greater stress on the defense and the inability of the offense to finish drives has likewise placed greater stress on the defense. Central had three empty red zone possessions against Greenwood, and had an additional one the previous week against South Warren. Against Warren East, Central's average starting position in the first half was the Warren East 48. They never made it to the red zone. The defense played well enough against Greenwood to win, and honestly they played well enough against Franklin-Simpson to win until the 4th Quarter. You really have to go all the way back to the John Hardin game for me to find a game where you could argue the defense lost it. Basically all their failures since are on the offense, even the Franklin game, as the offense did absolutely nothing in the second half to help the defense get some rest.
