Legally, isn't this an objective test of reasonableness judging by the totality of circumstances? In that case, why he was there absolutely matters. This is a far cry from knocking on the door of a known drug dealer with pits. I mean the dog ran out of the door and he shot it. This is crazy. Why he was there is irrelevant IMO and I feel like legally it's irrelevant as well. If a police officer stops someone for running a red light then has to shoot them for some reason, the reason for the stop is irrelevant. What directly caused the shooting is what's relevant.
