KY/Tennessee All-Star Game Friday

Featured Replies

Friday’s game will be the 23rd game in the series, which Tennessee leads 14-8. However, Kentucky has won five of the last six games, including a 41-27 win last year in Louisville.

The game will be played at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, which hosts the 1-AA National Championship game.

Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. (ET). Tickets are $10 and parking is $5.

Pretty big words...

"We need to take pride in this," said Ladd, a Class 3A Mr. Football winner. "Friday we'll come out with a win … guaranteed."

This years Tennessee team is loaded with tallent. They should be well coached and well prepared thanks to a good staff led by Jeff Rutledge (MBA) and Assistant Head Coach Don Woods (Morristown West).

I still remember when I was a senior at football camp at EKU... we were to play the Tennessee team, Smyrna (I think that was their name.. purple and gold colors, like Male... easy for us to dislike [although from the few I actually met, they were cool guys]). They were a LARGE team, and I don't mean just, numbers but I think they had an average height of like, 6'3. Big guys.

So we're out there for our last day, having a scrimmage, and it's pretty much a slow game, with them taking the lead. Their players start getting a little confident, and things start going further in their direction. Then the confidence turns to cockiness, and some words were heard from their direction. "They're getting tired guys, we've got them now, blah blah..." The key words were "they're getting tired" which brought out the first use of an immortal saying from K.O. Lewis, our enthusiastic offensive tackle.

"We don't GET tired!!!"

A little cheesy, but it was the cheese that caught the mouse (

This led to yet another immortal speech, given by Coach Nichols. It consisted of him simply shaking a clenched fist and letting out a pirate-esque "Yargh!". To which the whole team replied with "YARGH!" in unison. A great football memory.

Not the best football story, but one I think of when I think of Tennessee football.

It would have been nice if at least one player from all the state championship teams was on this all-star team... seeing that Russells was soarly LOOKED OVER having two all staters on the team!

Is Anderson the likely starter at QB?

For those of you going through Nashville and taking I-24 to Chattanooga, you may want to leave a little earlier in the day since you will have to battle the Bonneroo traffic near Manchester.

Here's hoping that Team Blue makes it six of seven!! With BGHS's Brendan Nestor playing with the stop troops, I have a vested interest in the game this time!:thumb: :thumb:

Anybody going to the game, be VERY careful on I-24 around Manchester...runaway tractor trailer rigs are very scary!

Does anyone think that the smaller schools who have a stud player get over looked way too much as far as this game goes?

Does anyone know if this game audio will be broadcast over the internet and if so where?

Thanks
