Just to be clear, I am not even saying we need to go there (bringing in outside officials) or would want to go there.

If there's enough officials to cover games in each region then it would be feasible from that standpoint. Travel and time of game is probably the bigger issue.

You are correct. They cover more than one. I believe three regions, but it could very well be four.

NDA showed a much better effort in this contest. Coach Gronotte did a very nice job of preparing this team for last night's match. Sometimes credit is not always given when talent is so prevalent on a team. The pandas are a great example of how to use the surplus of talent effectively. Would anyone else like to see a rubber match? It's a shame we can't.

NDA and Cov Cath are close in distance, but far apart in many ways - ask any current parent or student. Everyone on the outside thinks they are a pair - that's not even close.

 

Instead of looking for referee excuses, how about taking a hard look at a Highlands program that despite having what most would consider enough talent to work with, has lost to ND 3 straight years in Regionals, and hasn't won a Region since 2010. We always hear about all this great young Highlands talent coming up

Finally, they lost 1-0, which is better than the previous 3-0 defeats. All of those elements go towards showing improvement, or at worst, that the potential for improvement is being realized. I would think that this year was a big step forward.

Are we looking big picture or are we looking at one game? They lost to NewCath in the District Final, ok. Does that one loss outweigh what I stated in my previous post? To the impartial observer it does not. In case you don't think that I'm impartial, then I say that it does not. For those with beef with the coach, nothing will ever be good enough, so does it matter?

Who said you were wrong? Your perception of improvement is winning more than you did in the past apparently. Did you compare the schedules that were played? There were no Dayton's, Bellevue's and Conner's on the schedule. You mention a better result against the nemesis. Didn't they defeat NDA just 2 short years ago in the Lexington Catholic Tourney?

 

Also remember that NDA was not the nemesis just a few short years ago when they were in a different region than Highlands, NCC and some others. One could very well argue that Highlands and/or NCC might have won more regional titles over the last few years if this realignment had not occurred.

I will say that my biggest concern going forward is will the number of girls trying out for the soccer team increase or decrease over the coming years? It has often been said that "success" will attract them no matter what the sport. That will be a bigger indicator to me if things are going forward, staying the same or going backward.

Gotta admit, I was prepared for a sharp tongued answer. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. It will be much easier to gauge it all after tryouts next year.

Comparing scores and differential from previous years is apples and oranges.

 

IMO, It does not matter how good or bad your records is at the end of the regular season. In the regular season teams continue to play win or lose. District and Regional games are the real test for your team. You lose you are done.

BTW, what does my earlier reply have anything to do with any beef with a coach? You bringing it up based on my post implies you have one and want to discuss it. Do you have a beef with the coach? If so, start a new thread. I'm sure those from the past would love to debate again.

Been around NKY high school soccer for quite some time and cannot believe some of the stuff that I have read on here after going back over a year. So I have decided to jump in the deep end.

So I am interested in your quote "hype has always been". Since when? Last year? Since the back to back State Titles that HHS won I have never heard about all their young talent until last year. They do have young talent from what I have seen this season. They are better than last years team and that is no knock on the players that were there then. After watching them play a few times this year it is obvious.

 

Glad to see that you have done some research on Rivers. Awesome talent and girl has a bright future at UofL. I didn't know anyone was comparing Meyer to Rivers. I would have never expected a Boone County fan to know so much about Rivers but who am I to question that.

 

After looking back at their schedule I can see Jack's point on having Bellevue and Dayton on the schedule but 1 question, aren't they in their district? They have to play them, they had no choice. For you to put Conner in that list of 3 is just not right. I believe Conner did get a win against a decent Ryle team in their District tourney and they need to be given a little more credit than being grouped in with Bellevue and Dayton. 15 wins is pretty impressive. Sure there are some losses on there that have me scratching my head like St.Henry and CCHS. Not disrespecting those teams because they are good teams but just thought HHS was better than them. The rest of their losses are nothing to hang their head about. Looking at 2014 and 2015 schedules I am impressed with their record and the competition they played. This team is on the rise and I will give credit to the players and the coaching staff for a great season.

I hung up my whistle along time ago partner. I have been around NKY soccer for years but I don't know why that means I should have known about a website. I only questioned your statement about up and coming young talent and their success. I don't understand why you came back and attacked me. Well I can see why people said this site was crazy. I guess I should have gone another 50 years without knowing what BGP was. Good luck to both teams tomorrow night.
