HHS vs NDA predictions

Featured Replies

The CR let everything go on both sides! One girl would put her elbow in middle of the back of player she was defending(very hard with intent to hurt) when play was stopped all night long; I am all for playing tough in your face D but this was very poor sportsmanship and I sure hope it was not the coach teaching to play D like that! The type of play the CR let go all night was crazy and it was lucky no one got hurt and no altercations broke out. I give credit to players on both sides for keeping their tempers in check. It is also interesting that the CR was allowed to ref a game involving NDA when he is a staff member at Cov Cath.

Coaches officiate? Or do you mean he's a teacher at the school?

Did you see favoritism towards NDA from this official?

No, he was equally bad. But I know officials are not allowed to ref games of the school they attended or rivals to avoid favoritism or perceived favoritism. If you say NDA and Cov Cath are not the same entity, you are lying to yourself.

I can see where fans would come to that conclusion.

One correction: There is no rule about not working games at your alma mater.

Is this person a coach at CCH?

I don't believe they monitor this very closely. I watched Boone vs Dixie boys match a few weeks back and the side judge graduated and played soccer for Boone. This certainly shouldn't be allowed!

Different schools. If not you could say all the Catholic schools are under the diocese and are therefore connected.

Disagree. I've watched plenty of great officials work games involving their alma mater and there have been ZERO issues. You think NCC gets less foul calls from Tim O'Hara?

After so many years they are allowed to ref their school and it is monitored.

I'm not saying all the refs would give calls to there alma mater but it only takes one. I think he did a great job myself and didn't hear alot of complaints from the Dixie fans about his calls.

I would think there is a time period to this alma mater thing. Does it really matter where you went to school 10 or 20 years ago? I mean really.

Bigger issue is you have kids at a school currently.

Agreed there. But I would hope no one would do that.

My understanding was that officials could scratch schools and schools could scratch officials. However with the shortage of soccer officials as a whole, does this even take place?

You are correct regarding scratches. Each school can scratch X number of officials per season. Officials can scratch as many as they wish.
