October 5, 201511 yr San Francisco's last gun store closing doors for good No gun store in SF, but has a legal pot store right down from this facility. My how times have changed. Alcairo said the breaking point came this summer when a local politician proposed a law that would require High Bridge Arms to video record every gun sale and submit a weekly report of ammunition sales to the police. If passed, the law would join several local gun control ordinances on the books in a city still scarred by the 1993 murder of eight in a downtown high-rise and the 1978 assassination of Mayor George Moscone and gay rights activist Harvey Milk. "I'm not doing that to our customers. Enough is enough," Alcairo said. "Buying a gun is a constitutionally protected right. Our customers shouldn't be treated like they're doing something wrong."
October 7, 201511 yr Author Man, with all the pro gun people and...for lack of a better word "anti-gun" people on this board, I'm very surprised this didn't get any responses.

I think it may expected from this city and this part of the country....hope the whole thing slides into the ocean with the giant Pacific Garbage collection
October 7, 201511 yr I'm not sure why anyone would really care....So a gun shop owner is deciding to close his doors because he doesn't want to have to deal with the steps necessary to sell guns. His choice. No one is forcing him to do this. What's the story here?
October 7, 201511 yr Author I think it may expected from this city and this part of the country....hope the whole thing slides into the ocean with the giant Pacific Garbage collection Spent almost 4 years in that part of the country when in the Army. It's a different place brother. Thought hard about staying and going to collage in the area...so glad I didn't.

I find it absolutely incredible.

I'm indifferent about it. It would be a story if they were banned from operating a gun shop there. That's not the case. Clearly there is no demand for their products. If there was, someone would give in to the power of the almighty dollar and open up a shop.

If there was, someone would give in to the power of the almighty dollar and open up a shop. I don't think this is the case at all. Laws/regulations/statutes can be made so hard, so demanding, so outlandish that it makes it almost impossible or not worth the effort to continue an endeavor. This appears to be what has happened here, this guy was just the last holdout apparently.
October 7, 201511 yr I don't blame the guy for closing up shop. The regulations that the city are trying to enact are unreasonable and with everyone so afraid of guns right now, they are bound to pass; especially in a city as liberal as SF.

If there was, someone would give in to the power of the almighty dollar and open up a shop. The politics surrounding the legislation of gun sales has created essentially a "ban" on guns. Likely it's easier for the average gun buying citizen to go to a neighboring city and purchase. I will bet you find the demand for the product, but the hassle factor to buy one within the city is clearly not worth it.
October 7, 201511 yr I will bet I could buy a gun in SF. I will bet if they outlaw guns and confiscate all guns that I could buy a gun in SF. I will bet that if they put in all the new guidelines that everyone is asking for I could buy a fully auto rifle with out a background check. I will bet anyone that wants to kill can also.

All these laws do is hurt responsible gun owners' rights. You can get a gun on the street without having to go through background checks or be videotaped purchasing it.
October 7, 201511 yr Exactly. All these laws do is hurt responsible gun owners' rights. You can get a gun on the street without having to go through background checks or be videotaped purchasing it. I wonder where these guns on the street come from? They are manufactured (or imported) legally, distributed legally, purchased legally...and then at some point sold or acquired illegally. And our collective response is "well, nothin' you can do!" I don't believe that.
