I say 2: Male & Boyle

Male, Boyle and South Warren

Ludlow, Nicholas county, and Aiken are all decent teams. Bellevue was supposed to be a decent team too. Last year we lost to Dayton, ludlow, Pendleton. By no means are we playing teams that we "should win pretty easy" this is a team that almost didn't exist last year. You think we shod have schedule a harder schedule for a team that went 1-8 last year and almost disbanded ? That seems ridiculous to me

 

Nope but I believe even one or two games that are considered a reach for a small program to win could help a lot. Collecting wins but getting destroyed in playoffs once you have to play a strong talented team is pointless

I disagree for a program in the shape that Brossart was in... If you are trying to build interest & numbers, wins - and providing a positive atmosphere for your program are important. I think 10-1, 9-2, or 8-3 are a lot more valuable than going 6-6 or 5-6 and getting to the second round of the playoffs. Just look at the model that Boyle County created back in the early-mid 90s, when they significantly softened their schedule to build momentum.

 

Then again, I am in the small minority of thinking that schedule strength is overrated, in the first place. Winning games is all about how you match up to the other team, whether your staff has the ability to place kids in a positive matchup, and discipline to execute.

1A or 2A doesn't matter for Brossart in regards to winning games this season, they've only played one district game thus far so it is more of a good group of kids that have came out and a winnable non district schedule, they have fought extremely hard in games and very easily could be sitting at 2-4 right now as opposed to 6-0, it is a great feeling to see kids have success that have went without it for so long.

I agree, 1A or 2A has nothing to do with Brossart. The schedule is probably stronger this year than it has been in the past. Their success is all about getting a good coach who the kids want to play for and getting the athletes that have always been in the school to come out and play football.

As to who I think have a chance to be undefeated at the end of the year:

 

1A - Paintsville, but a bit of a long shot due to their remaining schedule.

 

3A - Boyle County

 

4A - Winner of Ashland/Johnson Central vs. South Warren - 1 of those 3.

 

6A - Male

I think the 1A v 2A does make a difference in Brossart's success this season. I believe that the numbers have and will increase knowing that they won't be playing NCC, Lloyd and Newport every year. With increased numbers, depth improves and that leads to more success with the schedule they play.

 

I also think this schedule was perfect for the year they needed to have. Wins over Ludlow and Bellevue make this a good year. Aiken, although a terrible team, presents a different style of play and helps prepare them for a team like Paris. I do think they should keep a Holy Cross, Holmes or Newport on the schedule to increase local interest and respect.

1 - 2A...Leslie Co.

3 - 3A...Elizabethtown, Adair Co., Boyle Co.

4 - 4A...South Warren, Spencer Co., Ashland, Johnson Central

What district/conference is Brossart in this year? I thought they would be in with Beechwood, Bellevue, Dayton and Ludlow but I do not see Beechwood on their schedule. Just curious.
