OHS gets the convincing win and the scary thing is, they didnt even play very well. Lots of little penalties here and there and a couple of ball security issues with the rain. I felt like the offensive line for the Devils took over after the 1st quarter and dominated the line of scrimmage the rest of the way. TJ James and Landon Board may be the best 1-2 running back combo in the state. OHS's defense played well for the most part. I have heard today they will loose GeKove Gardner for the season with a knee injury. I hate that for that kid. He was starting to emerge as one of their standout all around guys. Malik Mundy was another kid who had a big game for OHS. He kept Langhi under pressure all night long.

 

Last but not least, i have to bring up a cheap shot late in the game by a Christian County defender. The Homers caught the player in the act with some sideline video of a kid throwing a punch at one of the OHS kids midsection on a TD run in the 3rd quarter i believe it was. There is no room for that kind of stuff on the field IMO. I hope the video gets into the right hands and the kid who threw the punch is disciplined for it. The shot to the nuts was totally uncalled for. Kid needs to be discliplined for that.

 

I heard also that OHS linebacker GeKove Gardner is out for the rest of the season as well. That is a MASSIVE blow to OHS' state title hopes. I hate it for him and hopefully it's not as bad as they think. Always get a second opinion.

 

As for the game, OHS' offensive line dominated the trenches. When a team can run the ball at will that demoralizes the other team very quickly. To Christian County's credit, they didn't give up and had some success throwing the ball. CC has some nice athletes and most of them will be back next year. The only drawback I see to Kolbi Langhi's game is that his release is super slow. He is gonna have to work on that in the offseason but with only being a sophomore, he has plenty of time to fix it.

 

When Gardner got hurt for OHS it really hurt the Devils ability to pressure Langhi and cover in space. I noticed the Tinsley kid #10 returned and I was under the impression that he was out for the year so that's a big return for OHS.

OHS did have some frustrating penalties and turnovers. Barrett's turnover at the goal line before halftime just can't happen. He did however, make up for it after halftime by returning the kickoff for a touchdown.

 

I also would like to mention that QB Zach Gross is starting to come along nicely. He's throwing some good balls with a high completion percentage. The good news for OHS is they have some games coming up where they can work on things and hopefully get backups some reps to increase depth and keep the starters from getting banged up.

 

All in all, very good win against a quality opponent. As Apollofan98 said, OHS isn't playing their best ball yet which is scary. I'm perfectly fine with that because they team is improving every single week.

Congratulations to Owensboro. You guys got a very good team. Christian had some chances early to grap the momentum but unforced fumble for a TD really hurt em. The ball slipped out of the qb's hand while he was attempting to throw. County's offense should have scored when they were in the red zone but came away with nothing. Thought the Kenner kid for Christian Showed out and will be one of the regions best player for years to come. Feel bad for the Gardner kid if he's really lost for the year. I like how he plays the game. Sorry to hear that. As for the punch I didn't see it but I'm sure County's coaches will deal with it appropriately. Lovelace is a class act and won't allow such actions. I know Christian County folks are disappointed they feel they can compete with the Owensboro's and Bowling Greens but have not got over the hump. Being young is no longer a excuse. They need keep getting better week by week and see if they can get em in the playoffs.
