The CJ Editorial Board Responds To KHSAA's Action

Featured Replies

Doesn't the KHSAA pay the travel expenses for the schools during the playoffs? If they do, then the gate lost by not having T/X in the championship will be gained using this new early playoff system in saved travel expenses they would have had to pay these schools.

Prior to the state final, limited travel expenses come off the top of gate receipts along with lights, security, etc. The "balance" is then split between the two competing teams.

The KHSAA pays out a small per mile rate for bringing 54 players. If you bring more, it's out of the school's pocket. The KHSAA also pays for one meal ($5.00) for 54 kids. That's it. It's all on the KHSAA website if you search long enough. Fees paid to officials per round, etc. It's all there.

Uh... 32 teams don't travel in the first round.

02,

Yeah its actually 64 - which makes my point even more, doesn't it

I'm not sure why you feel the need to respond to my post. Are you just wanting to argue about something?:creepy:

We were talking about travel expenses and I was simply noting that concerns about travel for rounds now efected by a rotation factor are way different than the opening two rounds.

There are vastly less number of teams traveling after the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. There are HALF the number of games played - everyone gets that I hope.

Here is my quote you felt the need to dissect:

Keep in mind that at that level of the playoffs you only have a few teams potentially traveling in each class as opposed to what is it - 32 teams per class in the opening round (I didnt take time to count - but you get my drift)

OK since you apparently can't/won't acknowledge the part I bolded for you this time, I will try to give you a more precise breakdown this time.

Each class has 16 opening round games - that means 16 teams travel in the opening round.

KY has 4 classes, so that means there are 64 opening round games - so that means there are 64 teams traveling in just the opening round of the KY HS football playoffs.

After the initial 2 rounds of playoffs, that leaves us with 4 games in each class and a total of 16 games in the state. That means the new rotation plan will potentially effect only 16 traveling teams (NOT 64)

My point was/is that the complaints about that potential longer travel distance with the new plan will only effect a maximum of 16 teams - not the 64 in the opening round. As I said BIG DIFFERENCE.

With my original quote, I just said off the top of my head: "32" teams per class in the first round, when it is actually only 16 (per class). WOW:rolleyes:

But as anyone & everyone can PLAINLY see I noted that I was just throwing out the # and stated: "I didnt take the time to count - but you get my drift"

So I mistakenly used 32 instead of 16??? I clearly noted the irrelevance of the actual #

What is your problem with that and did you not understand that it has NOTHING to do with the issue being discussed?

Do you get my drift now ??

If the numbers don't matter, try not to quote one... especially if it's going to be double. 100% is a bad way to be off. ;)

I post anything I like.

It wasn't an exact quote. If some can't interpret all the words posted, thats their problem in life.:creepy:

Sure, post what you want... but if you're off by double, don't play it off by making sure everyone knows you weren't stopping to count (or get your facts straight) without expecting someone else to bring it up. (See: you get to say what you like, but it doesn't stop me from commenting.) Obviously, it was important enough to you to post a master's thesis on why you think your disclaimer about not taking the time to count exonerates you from being off 100%, but I'll post what I like: I disagree. You didn't miss one or two... you doubled the number. Accept it, and move on.

And if travel were the utmost concern, why did they unhinge the regional pairings? Surely they realize that under this new system they could have paired districts 1 and 8 into a 'regional' (hardy-har-har.) If travel is the concern, why not just change the first two rounds?

Let's keep the conversation on the topic, and not on each other. Debate the issue.:thumb:

I know you really want to win at least one debate (for a change)

But can even you not comprehend what was written above ???

Come on, you're just embarrassing yourself further:sssh:

Careful there Woody, never forget that even as a member you are a guest. I've seen a lot of folks try to "post anything I like" and they were soon reading and not posting.:thumb:

Good advice LSURock. Everyone needs to reflect on the rules and keep these threads on topic.
