Spencer County hosts Collins in a huge District 4 matchup. Spencer County hasn't been held under 40 points yet, and just dropped 77 on previously unbeaten Bullitt Central. Collins is coming off of two straight losses, and will be badly in need of a victory. Do they have the kryptonite for Spencer County?

Spencer has just come up short the last few years after being right there with Collins until the horn sounds. Not this year, though, Spencer finally gets over the Collins hump.

 

Go Bears.

This is the game of the century for Spencer County. They absolutely hate Collins and have never beaten them despite playing them tough in every match-up. Last year a very bad Collins team was able to beat the Bears by forcing them to throw the ball, which resulted in 5 interceptions. However, stopping their run game is no easy task. One thing is for sure, Collins better come up with a better defensive plan than Bullitt Central.

 

All of Taylorsville will be in attendance for this game. They are very excited about this team, as they should be. 5-0 for the first time ever and their best chance to finally knock off Collins. They will have a lot of confidence and momentum heading into this game after dominating a fairly weak non-district schedule. Everything seems to be leaning in their favor.

 

I still don't know what to think about Collins. They shutout a solid Montgomery County team, blew out a bad Bullitt East team, had a close loss to a bad Eastern team (Collins did have key players out with injuries) and got manhandled by a very good Boyle County team. The good news for the Titans is they won't play anyone as good as Boyle the rest of the year. Collins has done fairly well stopping the run. In both losses they were beat through the air and not on the ground. They are going to have to find some way to slow down Spencer County's potent rushing attack in order to have a chance in this one. They are still very young on offense but they've got some pieces to work with. They have a balanced offensive attack with talent at running back and receiver. They can be a bit inconsistent at times though and need to cut down on the turnovers.

 

Each meeting except for one has been a low scoring defensive battle. (21-0, 33-14, 38-35, 21-14, 20-7) Will we see another low scoring game this year?

I think Collins will slow them down. You are right that spencer wants this game bad. Hopefully spencer will be just a little too jacked up at the beginning of the game.

I think Spencer will score some points but my thought is can Collins cut down on TO's and score some points. 4 touchdowns by either team just might win this one.

Yes he has done a great job at Spencer County. He has built a solid program with lots of fan support in a place that isn't easy to do. They didn't even have a varsity team until 2004 so there wasn't much history to build on. Spencer was 0-11 the year before he took over and after a 5-7 record in his first season, they have had 3 straight winning seasons and are 5-0 to start this year.

Now if they can get them to do something with the facilities over there. I mean no visiting side facilities. Collins fans will load up the track on the 3 sets of small bleachers and bring their lawn chairs. It is always dangerous for visiting teams to exit the game cause of having to walk out with the home crowd. Yes Spencer in the past has done all they could to divide the crowd to let the team and fans out BUT is does get ugly and you watch your back.

 

Oh BTW I am going with Collins 24-14 in this one. Spencer does not have the passing game to beat Collins and Collins has too many athletes for Spencer to overcome.

Wow, Spencer has even made this game Homecoming to get even more people to turn out for it. Has had fox 41 in the house talking to players and such...Big time matchup for Spencer...

Wow, huge game for spencer..

I will give Spencer the nod here, playing at home and having a lot more to finally prove against Collins. I think Collins is a better team than they were able to show against Boyle. Boyle can make you look bad when they are hitting on all cylinders like they were last week at Collins. It should be a very good game to watch. I have been watching the big turnaround at Spencer the last couple of years. Must have a very good coach along with improved talent.

I don't think their is a doubt that Marksbury has it going down there. But there is a man that will be across the field that knows how to get it done. He also started with nothing but he did have a developed feeder system to pull from. Spencer will have to find a way to get to the next level of competition.

Started from nothing? Collins HS has some of the best facilities in the state and took all the talent from Shelby when they opened. Seems like a lot more then nothing Tommy
