Union city traveled to Pennsylvania this past week to play Delome Catholic winning 56-0. Our local news covers UC every week and said they could not find an opponent within 200 miles to fill this week's schedule. Tonight McCracken is leading a Stl team 35-6 in 2nd quater with alot of starters not dressed. UC holds 34 game winning streak just curious why no wky teams schedule them and if they did how would we stack up against the Tennessee talent

I would think as close as they are that Mayfield and Union City would be a natural game to play.

Never thought of Union City as a power house. We played them twice before , beat em both times..... They didn't want anymore.

What 2 years did mayfield play UC?? Had to be mid 90's at the latest...I'm not sure how they were then but they have been pretty dominant lately...34 consecutive wins is not easy on any level. Would love to see this year's Mayfield team hook up with UC.

We played Union City in the early 1990's. Home and away.

 

To answer the question, I believe they would have some success but if you're talking all WKY teams....they would take some lumps.

I see where they played in 88 but not sure the other year..... I would pull for mayfield in this game..... but I doubt kids that not only have a 34 game winning streak...but weren't even born in 88 "don't want any" because of a game played nearly 30 years ago haha

Obviously people do care or someone wouldn't have created the thread and people wouldn't have commented. Just like up here in NKY, people talk about Cincinnati and other Ohio teams, many NKY teams play teams in Ohio.

 

Plus, the question was asking about how the TN team would stack up Vs KY teams in that area, it seems like some WKY teams would want to play them if given the chance.

Actually have called them more than once in the last 5 years and they declined.

WPSD NBC 6 Interviewed the UC head coach and ask him about scheduling Mayfield and he stated that Mayfield contacted him but they could not get the dates worked out. UC is only 30 miles from Mayfield so a lot of us know a lot of them and the word I get is that they off the record will not agree to play Mayfield until after their streak comes to an end whenever that maybe. I recently took a closer look and MaxPreps ratings over the last 10 years only had UC ahead of Mayfield 1 year and most years Mayfield was heavily favored. In most opinions around our area, this would be a mismatch for UC nearly every year.
