Clyde every once in awhile shows his bias as much as he likes to be moderate this is that thread. The complaint was never with the program itself but the sheer growth of it and it's use. I'll have no problem with disapproving this premise. But I did find it funny. It let's me know where some get their material because I read the same premise on a left site tonight.

I have no personal investment in the Obama presidency and I roundly dismissed all the Obamaphone talk as petty silliness. Much like mine should be roundly dismissed as well. But as much as I loathe Dubya, I still think Bushophones has a nice ring to it.

I think the topic is probably petty and I wouldn't think it a topic of conversation but Clyde made the topic. My problem is the sheer growth of the program and and minimal oversight. To try to make some stretch that any govt program on phones is anywhere close to whats going on with the Obama phone program is just plain dumb . Or maybe intentional to attempt to deflect more negative feelings towards our current president ? When you drive thru your hometown and see the Obama tents set up with people being paid govt money to push them and then see homeless people on the next corner there is no link to Bush or Clinton or anyone else that holds water because no one has ever aggressively begged our poor people to accept benefits . Our military is underfunded , and our nations safety is under attack , but we have money to invest begging people to sign up for cell phones ? Then Clyde wants to link the program to land lines in the 80's ? The program is part of an overall political approach to buy people for the democrat party . Give them more food stamps , more money , more welfare , more heating vouchers , more clothing vouchers , more "free" health care , more stuff . You get them hooked on govt programs and they cant get away . There is some truth for you .
September 17, 201511 yr In 2008 the program was spending 818 million. In 2012 the amount was 2.2 billion. In addt' to the explosive growth 41% of the people receiving the phones could not properly prove they were eligible .

Not a new program at all but apparently both Obama and Romney supporters thought it was. I believe that was because of the growth in dollars spent under Obama.
