Love the series, I can't believe it's 25 years old already. Man I'm getting old.

 

I loved that series so much I couldn't wait for him to come out with his Baseball series. Unfortunately it fell short of my expectations.

Shelby Foote was a great commentator (I think I have his name right) on Civil War history.

 

You really need to read his books.

I own "The Civil War", "Baseball", "The War", and "The Roosevelts: An Intimate Story" on DVD and VHS.

 

"Lorena" is on my most favored playlists on my phone.

 

David McCullough was perfect as the narrator.

 

A fella has to know he's made it, when his technique of slow panning a pictorial scene is named "The Ken Burns Affect".

I just finished watching it on Netflix. Some of the historians were a little bizarre to say the least. Very, very interesting though.

Try listening to the Sullivan Ballou letter with "Ashokan Farewell" playing in the background and not cry. You can't. It is so sad and so perfect all in one.

 

Used it in services one Sunday to commemorate Memorial Day. Perfect example of making the black and white pictures "flesh and blood" people just like anyone else.

I loved "Baseball". I even picked up the 10th inning, which added the history of the game from the release of the documentary, 1994, through 2009. It's narrated by Kieth David and spends a copious amount of time on the steroid era.

 

Rumor is that the "11th Inning" is in the works.
