August 31, 201511 yr Anyone see this or know if theres any truth to it? Saw it on Facebook last night.
August 31, 201511 yr Author Freedom's Response: Over the past 24 hours, a post was made on Facebook by the family of a Florence Freedom seasonal staff member claiming we fired her father, a veteran of the armed forces, over not allowing him to observe the national anthem from outside the stadium as a ticket taker. This statement is not accurate. The gentleman was never fired and the team has had discussions with him both last night at the game, and again this afternoon over the phone suggesting a different role with the team to allow him to better observe the playing of the national anthem. One of these positions included being a ticket taker at our first base gate. In discussions with the gentleman involved, he acknowledges positions still available to him by the organization to better accommodate his US Veteran status. Furthermore, the organization will suspend the current policy of asking employees to follow a long standing practice as recommended by the Chief of Protocol of the United States of observing the national anthem inside, but not outside the venue. Freedom management will review the policy during the off season based on discussions with other venues, leagues and the US Government. The best interests of all fans and employees will be taken into consideration to avoid any conflict moving forward in regards to this policy. https://www.facebook.com/florencefreedombaseball/posts/1149245758423011
August 31, 201511 yr Based on the response by the Florence Freedom the title to this thread needs to be fixed.
August 31, 201511 yr The only debate here is whether the Freedom should have people outside the stadium stop doing their job during the National Anthem. If Clint's rule was that those outside continue doing their job and this gentleman wanted to stop then he needs to move to a job inside. Simple as that. Sounds like Clint offered him that chance and he declined. My guess is every stadium has people taking tickets during the Anthem.
August 31, 201511 yr I've met Clint quite a few times. He is always a stand up guy. Every game they honor us vet's. I think there is a second side to this story for sure...

I used to know Clint fairly well although our paths have not crossed for a long time. He is a good guy and definitely is not anti-vet. Without knowing the whole story, I would tend to side with him until proven otherwise.
September 1, 201511 yr Author Just thought it was interesting because (like most here) I know Clint and don't think he would be anti-Veteran. Sure there are two sides, but its sad that the people buying tickets would not stop for 2 minutes to honor America during the National Anthem.
September 1, 201511 yr I don't believe I have ever been to any event where they stop taking tickets outside the venue during the national anthem.
