Mayfield 42 Fort Campbell 0

I arrived at 6 and went through gate 4 and all they did was scanned our drivers license and we was on the way. Heard a lot of people had trouble. They should have built the field off base somewhere

Sorry folks, they're doing a few things that are a little more important than high school football on that base. :idunno:

Absolutely and all understand that but do not understand having a couple of people on hand to run background checks on a couple thousand people that they knew were coming and having half the screening stations open causing a massive back up at the gate for not only Mayfield fans but all the regular traffic as well that got caught up in the back up. On top of that the guy screening me did not know how to type and used 1 finger to peck. Just very poor planning and even poorer organization at a place that I would hope would be neither. I hope the rest of the base in run differently. After all that I get my background check done along with the other members of my party and head to the gate and they do not bother to check the car. Someone could easily have drive in with a terrorist device. On a positive note, I do not have any outstanding warrants. Anyone that did I am told would be arrested on the spot. I was also glad to hear that no one for Mayfield got arrested

I'm with Rookie on the security issue.

Rookie wish you were coming to the Rafferty's Bowl tonight!

As for the Mayfield Cardinals, just another day at the office!

Sorry Purple 88, would have been great to be there and meet ya, just couldn't work it out.

When's the last time Mayfield has had a bad year? When I was in college many decades ago, I met some guys from Mayfield. One turned out to be a CPA and one a lawyer. At that time I didn't know Mayfield from Maysville but they set me straight about Mayfield football and the coach in that era, Jack Morris, I believe he was. I have followed the Cardinals from afar ever since----not real intensely but just keeping aware of what they're doing......and they have been doing quite well, let me tell you.

No worries Rookie! Let's shoot for Black Friday!

I like the sound of that!

I've always said Fort Campbell has the biggest home field advantage in the state. If you get past the screening, you drive past tanks and copters to the field. Who else has that?

In the past, Fort Campbell has always e-mailed the coach and athletic director of the opponent and told them what fans have to do to get on post, that they should arrive early, have license, registration, and insurance, etc. They have switched ADs this year. Not sure if that notification was made, but Mayfield visited there two years ago and not much has changed.

New coach Josh McKillip said this was the first time in 20+ years he can remember the program not getting a single transfer in to play football -- good player or bad player. Troop deployment and movement is in flux right now and not a lot of movement.

It is amazing how far FC has fallen, the coaching change has really hammered them.

For me a lot changed, in the past I pulled to gate produced drivers lic and car ins. and reg and was on my way in under a minute. This time I tried that and was sent to a metal building back near the entrance. Do not get me wrong, security must come first and above all else but to not have staff to handle the mass of fans that they knew or should have known were coming was terrible and it cost FC a lot of gate money and I do mean a lot of gate $. That said I was one of the first there as we stopped by the gate early in the day then went to eat and returned and got to go straight to the gate but it was mind blowing to see the line of Cardinal red upon our return that wrapped around the building and out to the road in the parking lot.

FC will win a few games I am going to guess but they appeared to me to be less than average or we are a lot better than I realize
