  1. 1. Mercer County vs. North Hardin

North Hardin has plenty of weapons on the offensive side of the ball, but their success will depend on how quickly the inexperienced line develops.

The Trojans have three receivers in Will Alexander, James Pitre, and Terriq Miles, who are 6'2" or taller. This trio is going to present a number of challenges for opposing secondaries. Key returning players include RB Tavin Graves ( 240 carries 1281 yards and 13 touchdowns, and 627 yards recieving), last season, QB Isaiah Bankhead( 2,586 yard passing and 22 touchdowns), last season.

The Trojans are switching from a 4-4 defense to a 3-5 this season in the hopes of getting more athletes on the field.

The Trojans ended the season last year by beating John Hardin and losing to Meade County 27-25, and have high hopes for this season.

I am not sure Mercer County has the athletes to keep up with North in this one

A football mind that I trust said the same thing about North Hardin's athletes. He said it will likely be a high scoring affair. He also said that Tavin Graves is the best player in the state that no one talks about. Special player.

I'm rooting for Mercer County and will be there cheering them on. This will be a great test for them right out of the gate.

NH'S record from last season is extremely deceptive, they had a tough schedule. I'll be curious to see what this team looks like at the end of the year.

Mercer must keep QB Drew Davis healthy this year. They have good receivers in Christian Crawley and Chase Moore. It will be interesting to see how Malik Dowell fits into the offensive game plan. He figures to be a major part of the defense at his DE spot. In the backfield, we have Dee Smith. His father, Donald Smith, was a great running back for the old Harrodsburg High School and went on to start RB at WKU. We have a pair of pretty solid LB's in Braxton Bradshaw and Grayson Blevins. Mercer MUST stay healthy this year as depth is limited.

I think Mercer will be fine with a few adjustments. They have a tough one next in Lafayette. I would like to see both those games Saturday but I was TOLD o have to go to a family function instead.
