August 25, 201511 yr The foot outside pitch being called a strike is killing me. It seems that if a catcher sits up outside off of the plate and the pitcher hits the mitt it is an automatic strike. An overhead view of a strike call a couple of days ago showed a pitch coming through the batters box and it was called a strike, even though the catcher barely got a glove on it to catch it. OK I'm off of my soapbox now...return to your regular programming.
August 30, 201511 yr Final Game Japan vs Pennsylvania Japan scores 2 in the top of the first only to see PA. score 10 in the bottom of the 1st. Japan starts to peck away and then explodes in the third or fourth to take a lead. Top of the 6th Japan at bat up 14-11 then tack on 4 more to go up 18-11...going to the bottom of the 6th. Japan has 22 hits to 8 for PA.
August 30, 201511 yr I love the LLWS and hate it at the same time. It is nothing more than homerun derby and the fences should be moved back about 20-30 feet. It's pretty ridiculous when 19 runs are scored in the first inning and a half today.

The only thing I can think of is that in normal LL games if the ump did not have an abnormally expanded zone, the games would become walkfests. In the LL World Series the pitchers have better control so the expanded zone is not necessary and it looks stupid to the casual observer........but maybe that is the way the games have been called all year, so why change?

It's pretty ridiculous when 19 runs are scored in the first inning and a half today. That's more a product of both teams being low on pitchers, with pitch counts limiting availability both teams had little depth on the mound today. Go back to the last few games and all of the scores have been what you'd expect in a LL game...today's game was an aberration.

They said today that the strike zone internationally is a ball and a half wider than the plate on both sides of the plate. It's not that in the LLWS, but that's where a lot of these kids are used to pitching.
August 31, 201511 yr Didn't see the entire game, but looking at a lot of the highlights it seemed liked the homeruns were jumping out of there. Some were legit swings, but others looked like the batter got jammed in on the handle or maybe even one-handed an outside pitch...and boom, ball is gone. Kinda disappointing to watch that type of baseball.
August 31, 201511 yr Pitching was definitely a real problem today, but when guys are hitting opposite field line drives that are clearing the fence by 10-15 feet.. it's time to move the fences back. The field is just too small for a lot of those kids.
