I won't argue. Again, enjoying the discussion. Every situation has to be a little different around the state and counties. It has to be hard to argue that Boone/NKY wouldn't put out a great product if some of the schools merged. In Louisville, we have several 6A schools that only field 50 or maybe 60 kids. Sure, the enrollment numbers are huge but they don't have many kids to field a good football team. I look at Fern Creek, Eastern and JTOWN inside Louisville. The schools are 10 minutes apart from each other. Again, I know the enrollment is huge in the schools but so watered down from a football perspective. Just wondering how the landscape would look if Eastern, FC and JTOWN football teams were combined.

 

I hear you Hellbird. I like your comparison to Scott County more than any part of the argument. Must be nice for them to be the only show in town.

If they are wrong on there, then I'm sorry...I just got them from what was released. I very well could have read it wrong, I went to one of the last columns where it said c_boys where I thought that was the enrollment size.

even if I read it wrong T etc. and St X etc. still has about double and some cases more than double the number.

 

Ah, yes that is a weird typo. If you add up the individual grades in the left columns you'll get the correct number. I wonder why it's incorrect in that single column.

 

Anyway, the only teams that are half Trinity's or St. X's male enrollment are Connor and Cooper, which isn't an accurate comparison as they are both 5A schools that petitioned to move up. The lowest male enrollment by the natural boundaries of 6A is Boone County at 726 which is more than half of either Trinity or St. X. The median male enrollment size of 6A schools is 870 and the average is 907. I used the same source as before (2015-2018 realignment) for numbers.

 

I will admit to some culpability in threadjacking, but my initial response was only 'I doubt it'. NKYbandit bandit responded, and I explained why I doubted. Both you and he replied to that which is what began this magical adventure.

 

Like I said, if we simply mark this as a difference of opinions I'm fine with that. There's no empirical proof either way; just secondary evidence upon which suppositions can be built. I remain unconvinced of your statement, but you seem equally unconvinced of mine.
