Pre Season Rankings Out

Featured Replies

I can't find a more competitive match between higher ranked teams. MND and NDA both play Ursuline. Maybe MND is just that good.

I think that may be an understatement.

Touched base with an NDA parent last night. They've played in two scrimmages (Morgan obviously hasn't played in either).

On Saturday, the Ursuline scrimmage was very closely matched. They played for 2 hours and only 2 of the segments were scored. In both scored segments, NDA won close games. A scrimmage is a scrimmage, but heard that when NDA had its top 7-8 on the court they were the better team but when they went to the bench, Ursuline had more depth. Soph Julia Sears was filling the OH role vacated by Morgan.

Last night, they traveled to Louisville to play Mercy and Mercy controlled the scrimmage. Mercy re-loaded with smaller, but very powerful hitters compared to last season. Reports were NDA was very error prone and serve receive was a problem outside of 1 or 2 passers.

Thanks for the update. I think a lot of those serve receive errors will go away when Morgan gets back. It's not surprising to me that they would struggle against Mercy without her. Lets face it, she's one of the top kids in the country and is headed to Stanford, any team trying to play at an elite level would be a bit out of sorts without her in the lineup. Without her NDA is just an above average team. No offense to the other girls on the squad, but there's a reason she's on TEAM USA. She's a game changer.

Notre Dame "dropped" NCC years ago. They are the ones who stopped scheduling NCC, not the other way around.

Not this again. Where is this mythical conference? Are there standings? Is there a conference schedule? Conference champion? A website with all the info? I'm not buying it. Sounds like a convenient excuse to duck a tough game. "conference schedule" doesn't stop them from playing each other in Soccer/Basketball/Softball...

Apparently these "divisions" cut across District and Regional lines, further complicating matters. To be honest, I don't see the point of having a conference with Divisions since teams seem to schedule opponents in all 3 Divisions anyway. In fact, it looks like the majority of schools schedule teams from all 3 divisions.

It still doesn't explain why Highlands and NCC don't play ND in volleyball, but do in soccer, basketball, and softball.

The only NKY team NDA plays outside of their District and Conference teams is St. Henry.

They don't play because Notre Dame quit scheduling local teams (other than who they are required to play plus St. Henry) in order to play more Cincinnati and Louisville teams. NCC & Highlands routinely have teams that beat ND in soccer, basketball and softball making them "worthy" of being on the ND schedule in those sports. However, ND doesn't think that is the case for volleyball.

Soccer last 5 seasons vs ND:

HHS 2-9

NCC 0-8

There a routine beating going on, you just have the wrong schools.

Hey gang, it's fairly easy to find schedules, rosters and rankings for the Varsity teams. However, the JV and Freshmen teams seem to be ignored. Is there any place to find the same info for the non-varsity teams? I think I know the answer but thought I'd ask anyway.

To the best of my knowledge unfortunately, no there is not, but wish there was.

QUOTE=volleyblogger;5581461]Wrong.

Scott is in a decent spot. They Lost to Butler who lost to Ryle. All they have is Franxman and Tapp, who are good hitters, but won't be able to carry the load against good teams as we saw in BGSG. Cooper still has more talent without a decent setter because they have people to terminate. No, they won't beat the teams listed above them, partly because their coaches don't know their boobs from their butt, but the team won't be that bad, especially since they just added Nicole Bruce, a senior transfer from Conner, who was their best player, and Morgan Kelly, a freshman. PLD still has Leah Edmond, who can pretty much hit over any block you give her. Beechwood still has their core group back, which includes setter Gabby Ogle and libero Maggie Stuempel.

The fact of the matter is, most schools are going through a rebuilding year. Teams are testing different lineups, giving new players chances on the court and trying to find a team that meshes. Give it a couple weeks and I bet this pre-season ranking may be a fairly decent representation of the state.. Sure missed this one Lol. Right.

Since Conner beat Cooper, apparently, there were a few other players on that team pulling their weight:idunno:
