Harry Doyle
Threw for 1700 yards. 20 TD's and only 6 picks. Completed over 50% of their 220 attempts. Had 1 RB w over 1K yards, and two others with over 400. Also had 5 receivers with over 100 yards each on the year, with a couple in the 700 and 400 range. He is running a perfect offense for that program, and any program. Don't be swayed by the, "IF you aren't in the spread, you aren't running the right offense" way of thinking that has seemingly taken over. Old school offenses are alive and well. I'd be willing to bet that Rogers and PT could be in the Gun, running the exact same Wing T and 99% of the population would have no idea they were running it, yet all would be right in the world because of the QB taking the snaps 4-5 yards behind center. They play a ridiculous schedule. They are going to lose games, no matter what offense they are running.
Eagle_Pride!!
I agree they will probably lose a few games.i would personally love to see rogers get a state title and Tilghman needs a great season to help rogers build the program to his expectations.. Me, i like the old school type offenses...the wishbone, offset I, Heavy jumbo, etc. But, best of luck to all teams in 3a..should be exciting to watch! GCHS
Careful... or Louisville Central might not let either Boyle or LexCath even get out of the Region for four years... Don't overlook the Yellowjackets. Bell County and Corbin probably expected to win a Regional Title in a 4 year window as well when they came to 3A...but that didnt happen. I think you have to include all four... I also think Corbin, Russell, and Tilghman will all step their game up as well. I would put Garrard ahead of Tilghman, THIS year. After that, it is hard to tell.

Someone on my side of things - you never hear anyone talk about how boring Auburn's offense is, but Gus Malzahn bases his entire offense off the Delaware Wing-T. He just backed his QB up a little. You never hear anybody knocking the play selection of Urban Meyer's offenses, but his system is a hybrid of the old Single Wing and triple-option. That shotgun snap must really open up the offense and put defenses in a bind. The truth is, the Wing T is, and always will be, an effective offense for two reasons. 1) It exploits the prevailing defensive practice of linebackers reading flow. 2) It forces DL to read blocks & squeeze rather than attacking upfield. DL also aren't crazy about all those down blocks.

Look me up around November and tell me " I told you so ", but in the meantime I am and we are confident with the prediction of Boyle Co, Lex Catholic and Belfry will reign supreme. 3A has not seen much competition within the last few season till this year. Grab yourself some popcorn, take a seat on a comfy couch and watch the show.

Grab yourself some popcorn, take a seat on a comfy couch and watch the show. We're all entitled to our prediction... but last year: Lafayette 28 Central 14 The very next week... Lafayette 34 LexCath 24 Of the three teams Central had by far the best Non-District win by defeating South Warren... No doubt Boyle and LexCath (and for that matter al the other 3A newcomers) make the class significantly tougher...but if we're talking frankly I am not sure you are giving Central credit Calpreps has to be taken with a grain of salt... but 2014: Central #29 LexCath #3 5 Boyle #3 6 2013 (Major down year for Central): LexCath #19 Boyle #29 Central #40 2012: LexCath #7 Central #11 Boyle #15 2011: LexCath #10 Central #11 Boyle #14 2010: Boyle #5 LexCath #27 Central #28 2009 (The only other Central Down Year in 3A): Boyle #3 LexCath #15 Central #5 4 2008: Central #12 Boyle #13 LexCath #3 4 2007: LexCath #5 Central #25 Boyle #5 7 Average Finish: LexCath #19 Boyle #21 .5 Central #26 .25 Central finished ahead of Boyle 5 out of the 8 years Central finished ahead of LexCath 2 out of the 8 years That's pretty impressive to me..especially considering Central has leaps and bounds more experience returning from a team the CPU's say were better than both Boyle and LexCath
Northerner
Thanks ATLCats. That's too much number for me to scroll around to read, but i'll make a remark on the first part of your quote 6A LHS 28-Central 14, the following week LHS 34- LCHS 24. First of all Lafayette does have all does D1 commit and signee right? and 2nd LHS were only winning by 3 and Lex Cath was driving for the win. Well of course the pick 6 with seconds left that Ryan/ LCHS threw that did them in

But . . . I find a significant problem with 2008. Boyle was 13-1, losing the heartbreaker by 2 at 15-0 Bell County. The Rebels beat Lex Cath not once, but twice. To have the Knights 10 spots ahead of Boyle is ridiculous. I respect Central a lot. I think it will be a great battle in 3A.

BGP did something funky to my numbers it looks like Central was one spot ahead of Boyle and that is understandable. That was arguably the best Central of the run... they had Ridge Wilson, Mister Cobble, and Tim Patterson on defense.

Well of course the pick 6 with seconds left that Ryan/ LCHS threw that did them in I am just saying both teams played them equally well was the entire point there. If LexCath was on a different level last season the scores probably would have helped illustrate that. I have no problem conceding that it's hard to say Central has been the better team most years over those two... but at the same time to dismiss Central and take a shot at the competition in 3A just seems mislead to me and undermines how good Central and Belfry have been. Especially when you are discussing Central who traditionally plays one of the State's Toughest schedules year in and year out as if their days are over now that big bad Boyle and LexCath have came into the picture.
