I hear Hall from Breathitt is a frontrunner. He is a good coach and a good person also, he would be a good fit at Owsley.

I heard this and I agree, but i also heard someone from Jackson County, use to coach the girls team and is another top canidate for the job.

The two names that have been mentioned the most are Parrott, former Jackson County girl's coach, and Hall from Breathitt.

Hasn't Owsley had like 7 coaches in 7 years?

1958-1966 John Daniel Seale

1967-1968 Raymond Hamblin

1969-1970 Paul Smith

1971-1975 Bob Terry

1976-1978 Jimmy Ray Bowman

1979-1989 Charlie Turner

1990-1995 Larry Sparks

1996-2001 Tim Bobrowski

2002 Jim Bob Hicks

2003 Tim Bobrowski

2004-2005 Buddy Cornwell

2005 Charlie Turner and Paul Green

2006 Paul Smith

2007 ?

I was told today that the Owsley County job will be offered to Greg Parrott, former Jackson County girls coach. Owsley officials met today and made their decision.

Greg Parrott has accepted the job and will be welcomed at a cookout at the high school tomorrow night. Good luck and fortune to him as the new coach. I agree with your statement bballer1, hopefull Parrott will hang around for a while. The Owls have a proud tradition : 9 district titles since 1982 in a district in which they are the smallest school, 4 14th region All A championships, All A state runner-up in 1990 (and Jeff "Moose" Moore was named MVP) and state All A semifinalist in 2000, 14th region runner-up in 1983 and 1985, and 7 times advanced to the region semifinals. Not bad for a school with an enrollment of 250 students.

A big welcome to Coach Parrett! There was a good size crowd (parents, students, staff members, and community members) at the cookout last night to welcome him to Owsley as the new head coach of the Owls. I am confident that Parrett is here to stay, for a while and will be a great assett to the program. Good luck with your first season!! We look forward to starting the new season this fall!

Not hardly 7. But Owsley needs a coach that is willing to stay and build Owsley County back up for years to come. Owsley County has a proud tradition in basketball dating back to the Glory days of the 80's under Coach Charlie Turner. Followed by some good years by Larry Sparks and Tim Bobrowski.

Yeah the teams recently have been a up and down year by year adjusting to the coaching changes. Playing under different coaches each year couldnt be easy , but the teams have still won and really havent had but i believe 1 .500 season and one loosing(13-14) season since the 80'S and the Charlie Turner era. This isnt bad coming from a team that doesnt tend to play a weak schedule and 250 students 7-12grades. This schoold produces some players and teams and always has a winning tradition.

Not a bad choice to coach at especially for winning the All A and possibly pulling off the big show one day. Just the past 4 years they have been trying to find a Tim Bobrowski and thats not easy to do(needle in the haystack).

hopefully Coach Parrot will stick around and build the tradition back to satisfactory for the fans and hang some more banners up in the Owls' Nest. Goodluck Coach Parrot in the future and hopefully the administration will be in full support.
