Can Quinton Baker................

Featured Replies

Make up for the last three years this season?

From the Eastern Kentucky Power Rankings:

5. Ashland (4A)- The Tomcats have the dynamic Quinton Baker and plenty of experience, but can they put a rough 2014 in their rear view?

October 21, 2011 was the last time Ashland beat District Rival Johnson Central, can Baker, O'Bryan and crew make 2015 the year they re-claim the District Title?

No.

Care to elaborate? What are the factors that make you say no?

Ashland can have good year but can't compete with JC in the pits. Line play is the difference, and I don't see Tony Love being at Ashland long term as HC Imo. Already have fired basketball and baseball guys.

Basketball and Baseball plays no factor in football? Lol

Line play has been the scapegoat. Not so sure that the lineman trying to block 8 guys with 5 is always the line's fault. Unless Ashland can throw a little and be a little more dynamic in schemes the district will remain in JC. I don't think they have to stretch the field vertically per say, but I do think they need to utilize their team speed and stretch the field horizontally. Time will tell.

I know this simply saying they will pull the trigger based on performance surely you have enough common sense to know what I meant.

I think love still has five years. And surely they will wait AT LEAST after this year because they have two D1 athletes. Love will be there a few more years. Baring a good season this year, 8-4 or 9-3, he will be there a little longer. If Ashland beats Johnson Central every year for the next five years, he will be there for a sixth season.

I'll take Baker and the Tomcats. If they can take some of the defensive attention away from Baker, Ashland will be scary. They may not be better all around, but Baker makes the difference this year

How so?

Baker was sensational last year as well. It's not like he is unknown or someone who missed most of the season with injury.

If anything will make the difference I would actually have to think it would be either someone not named Baker stepping up or an entire unit looking totally different.

I think many people will be surprised when comparing Baker of 2014 to Baker of 2015. He is bigger, stronger, and dare I say faster.

But, I agree, as good as Baker is, the determination of Ashland's 2015 season rests on players not named Baker. Drew O'Bryan is one. But, with those two named, others will have to take the attention off of Baker and O'Bryan.

I'd like to see Ashland use Baker in the screen game much more. Let him set up in pass block and slip out into the open field where he can make some guys miss.

Ashlands not that good.

Ashland can be a very dangerous team this year and a sort of sleeper type team. Coaching has got to get better ( to many chiefs not enough Indians) keep it simply on D and Offense. Play in the trenches has got to get a lot better. If those two things happen and this team builds off of last seasons play at FTH the sky is the limit.
