July 15, 201511 yr Get rid of Berman, Chris Broussard, Skip, Stephen A, and Mike Greenberg and the company will be exponentially better and will cut a huge chunk of the $30M. You forgot Collin Cowerd who is horrible! Cut them all and do away with 70 Sports centers every day and you would do away with about 78 Sports center anchors. Have on in the mornings at 10am and one at night at 10pm. ESPN has turned into MTV. MTV at it's best was music videos and music news period. Then they lost themselves and went to all the different stupid shows and basically did away with music all together and I haven't watched MTV in over a decade probably. ESPN is on the same path.
July 15, 201511 yr Could this end up being the precipice of a sporting bust in the USA akin to the housing bubble bursting. Sports have become outrageous to attend and it looks like they may start costing more and more to watch at home. As it cost more and more to get the rights each year if the ad revenue doesn't follow networks like ESPN, Fox, CBS won't be able to bid such outrageous amounts for the TV rights anymore. Forcing sports to either become a Pay-per-view only option or the leagues, owners and players to take less from the networks. Thus lowering everyone's income. It's not going to be a sports bust. The problem with ESPN is they have too many channels. They have ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News, ESPN Classic, Espn Radio etc. and have over saturated the market with crap. Get back to the basics and they wouldn't be losing money
July 15, 201511 yr If ESPN and Fox got a streaming service I may think about cutting the cord. But I pay for live sports it's to big of a part of my life. They have Watch ESPN but it needs to go full fledged streaming for non cable subscribers . They get a little over $6 per cable subscriber. They could go $10 make more per subscriber and people would flock. You can get ESPN on Sling TV.
July 15, 201511 yr You can get ESPN on Sling TV. Can I get the entire ESPN family including the SEC network.
July 15, 201511 yr Can I get the entire ESPN family including the SEC network. You can Add the "Sports Extra" package for $5 extra... The Original package included ESPN and ESPN2 https://www.sling.com/package

July 15, 201511 yr What are the downfalls of sling tv. Seems to good to be true . It's a streaming service so you need a good internet connection. I don't officially have it yet but I will in 2 months. I've heard nothing but good things.

Get back to the basics and they wouldn't be losing money No the number of channels isn't the issue...the problem is that it is becoming too expensive to get broadcast rights for all sports. At some point it will reach the tipping point and when networks start losing money on sports broadcasting then they will pay less. When the owners get less they are going to want to pay players less and charge fans more. Neither of those are going to fly to well IMO. We could see lengthy lockouts/strikes in the coming years are multi billion broadcast fees are no longer viable.

July 15, 201511 yr What are the downfalls of sling tv. Seems to good to be true . I "cut the cord" about 4 months ago. I picked up Sling TV for sports and I love it. The only thing I miss is my DVR. Just make sure you have a good internet connection.

July 15, 201511 yr Doing research it on it don't think I'm ready to make the move. If I really wanted so few channels I could cut down on Uverse for a similar price .
