Let's keep this thread on topic.

Actually I think it was Rick Minter that stopped in for the film.

To clarify for cshs81, Pete right now is on the upwards side of 6'3'' and is on the upwards side of 220. He has put on 12-15 lbs. in the past couple of months and there is a noticeable difference in his size from last year. IMO Pete would also be a huge help on the defensive side of the ball as there aren't many high school tackles going to be able to deal with his combination of speed, strength, and pretty good arm length coming off the end.

I know the offer from EKU is legit and I'd expect to see more coming soon as coaches from ND, UK, Dayton and Miami (OH) have been at school.

Strictly concerning ND, I'd say that they will be able to catch many of Peter's games as Charlie Weiss will be up in the Greater Cincinnati Area a lot watching Ben Martin (ND verbal, DE from LaSalle) and Darius Ashley (RB St. Xavier (OH), Class of '08 recruit). With that being said, I'd say his chances at proving he's worth a scholarship from them are legitemate.

Are you sure about this? If true you got the scoop on both Rivals and Scout. He would be a nice pickup though. Hope you are right.

It was Notre Dame's defensive coordinator (and I assume the recruiting coordinator as well) who got the film.

Peter has been hitting the weights harder ever since he had shoulder surgery a few months ago, and is a little over 6"3 and about 220-225 lbs. He is very quick and athletic, basically a bigger version of his brother Brett who is going to play at San Diego.

Pete if you're reading this: while ND is the most prestigious program ever, you know you'd rather go to UK.

This is all great news for Pete, great athlete/kid. I'd think that he still has some proving (not to me) to do before a ND scholly is in the picture. Hope everything works out for the best for him (as in the University of Kentucky...).

No, my fault, that is the wrong information. My source confused an offer from the ND to be a verbal by Ben Martin. He has not committed there. I apologize for getting your hopes up as I know from personal experience that he is an absoulte monster and heckuva football player.

...but Sutton's chances of being on Charlie's short list this year are slim to none. Based upon his background, Sutton is best projected as potentially a TE, DE, or LB at the next level. The Irish are projected on D to be looking for three DE's and these spots will be filled by Neal from NC (already announced his commitment), Martin from OH and Trattou from NJ (both of whom should announce before the season starts). ND already has a committment from Raggone (NJ), who is probably the top TE in the nation. The only other people they will be looking at at TE are those who have potential to convert to OL (ND is targeting five OL's this year), and Sutton does not fit this agenda. They have already got a commitment from Nagel (IL) at OLB, and at most will be looking for two more. They already have a list of candidates seven deep for the two remaining slots they seek to fill, all of whom have high interest in the Irish and are rated high in the nation by both Rivals and Scout. The days of Davie and Willingham have passed and the bar has risen significantly with the Weis Age at Notre Dame.

Charlie will leave no stone unturned, and has has charged all his assistants to be totally vigilant (in the Cincy area it is Rick Minter). Nonetheless, although Sutton projects to be one of the best in Kentucky, at his possible projected positions, I'm afraid he is competing in rearified air without an oxygen supply.

Should I bring his dog down to Louisville for you to kick?

As I originally noted, I am not trying to rain on his parade. I am sure he is an outstanding young man, plus an excellent football talent within the state of Kentucky. This is just one of those instances where he is occupying the wrong body shape to have a good shot at an ND offer. If you could take his heart and mind and insert them into the 6-3/6-5, 300 pound body of a DT with quick feet, I'm sure it would be a different story. The Irish always have a tough time finding good DT's who have the grades, scores, and fit the persona that is Notre Dame. This seems to be the only position this season, where the line of high school All-Americans is not already a mile long hoping to get a favorable nod from Charlie.

Best of luck to Pete and congratulations on getting the film request from Rick Minter. :thumb:

I found a thread on an Irish board discussing this kid, and some believe that they may be recruiting him as a LB. Does he play LB for CCHS?

This thread on the Irish Board was started by a link to the Guru's initial statement in this BGP thread and contained no meat in the three single sentence followups.

Normally, I would agree with you. But Sutton could be a steal for a solid program (Notre Dame?? Not sure). But he is a better "athlete" than what he is getting credit for. If I remember correctly--Peter owns a high jump upward of 6'4/6'6. So he is more than a little explosive. He has decent speed as well.

There has to be some reason why Minter would be in to pick up tape . . . . . ..

Ox- just messing with you. Obviously Pete and everyone involves knows that a scholly from ND would be a long shot.

QS - You may be confusing Peter with his brother Brett on the high jump. Brett is on CCH's track team and I believe has won the region the last couple of years. Pete very well may be a strong high jumper but not many have seen it.

That doesn't change your initial point that he is a strong athlete.

I hear Minter also stopped by NCC during this trip.
