Once again a team owner is holding a city hostage with the threat of relocation. Bucks owner has said he wants a new arena or else he'll move the team...potentially to Vegas or Seattle. Can't see the NBA allowing a relocation of any type, let alone someone to Seattle after blocking the Kings move last year.

 

Is Vegas a contender? Lots of folks in Louisville would like to have those 40+ games in the Yum Center to help pay for that building. Could Chicago support another team, like LA or NYC?

I'd support a team in Louisville. But I'd also go to a game or 2 in Vegas.

I think a team from Vegas would work but a lot of the people that would be at games would not be fans of the Vegas team, just tourists of people who got comped tickets.

But the visiting team players might be hungover if flew in the night before?

Marquette has been playing at the Bradley Center ever since it was built in 1988.

I've always heard the exact opposite. NBA players get tempted enough from many different angles as it already is. Throwing them into the sportsbook mix is a terrible idea.

Not sure that a team in Vegas would be anymore enticing for players. After all, we know that a lot of the players in the league gamble (legally and illegally)- Jordan did, Barkley did, heck Arenas nearly shot a dude in the locker room over a dominoes bet. They had a referee cheating and he did all kinds of games all over the league.

Wouldn't a team in Vegas mean stories like this multiply tenfold? Imagine how many more of these dudes would be bankrupted with regular trips to Sin City on their itinerary. Even if no fixing occurs, Vegas could clean up with the knowledge of who was doing what and where the night before if say Vegas was the first of a four games in four days West Coast trip.

Maybe NBA wants gambling to do for it what it has done for the NFL?
