June 26, 201511 yr I'm hearing it was powerful and that he led and sang Amazing Grace at the funeral. I am waiting for it to appear on YouTube. I'll post it once it is up. I can't wait to see and hear it. The Amazing Grace clip is up but I want to hear the whole eulogy.

June 26, 201511 yr Side note: There are very few songs that give me the tingles like Amazing Grace does. And when sung by a black gospel choir, it strikes to the deepest emotional chords in me.
June 27, 201511 yr That was awesome. Jeremiah Wright couldn't have done it better. Sadly, because we are human beings sometimes we cannot appreciate something because we come in with biases. The above post is a perfect example and I say that not as a criticism but, rather, as an observation.
June 27, 201511 yr That was outstanding from so many perspectives. Most importantly, it was outstanding because of the message - if you were able to hear it. The line the resonated most with me was when he said it would be a disservice to Mr. Pinckney to have us all fall back into a "comfortable silence." That's so true. We all hide behind "well, it's getting better" and then fall into that "comfortable silence" which results in it NOT getting A LOT better. I've posted it 1,000 times on BGP. We all pay lip service to the race issue.
June 27, 201511 yr 1. I want that organist at my church. I just want them and the guitar player to hit it when the priest says something profound. 2. I'm not sure who I heard more during those 36 minutes - the President or the brother over his right shoulder.
June 27, 201511 yr Frank Conniff @FrankConniff 6h6 hours ago On a day that many warned will destroy religion, Obama gave a eulogy that made the best case for Christianity I've ever seen.

The above post is a perfect example and I say that not as a criticism but, rather, as an observation. That post is why I put this in Controversial Issues. Even Obama delivering a eulogy at an innocent victim's funeral is controversial these days.

I'm not sure who I heard more during those 36 minutes - the President or the brother over his right shoulder. "Go 'head, Mr. President." "Preach, Mr. President." "That's right, Mr. President." I bet he is everyone's favorite deacon at the church.

Is that another example of coming into a situation with a bias?
