Shannon Hoskins that is a name I haven't heard in a long while. I went to Pikeville College with Shannon and have wondered whatever happened to him.

It sure seems odd with you being from Florida that you know alot of coaches names in Ky.

I don't know why it seems so odd, but anyway I coach at Bay HS in Panama City, Florida and we host the Barnstorm Classic after Christmas and year before last had Rockcastle County in our tournament. I have coached against a few coaches from Kentucky during my career (Bill Mike Runyon, Allen Hatcher, & Steve Wright). I have seen other guys from Ky, coach in person (Billy Hicks, Bart Flener, Danny Haney, Chris Renner, Dale Mabrey, Lloyd Gardner before he retired, plus others). I myself am always looking for well coached teams for our tourney, plus I am always looking for ways to improve even though I have been very successful (4 state championships as a head coach and 3 more as an assistant), and one of the best ways is to find out who the better coaches are and try to see them play, or email them, call them, write them, whatever works. That is why I know a lot of coaches names and why I am always inquisitive about who is coaching where, their backgrounds things like that. I have always thought and still think that coaching high school basketball at a successful school in Kentucky has to be the ultimate for a high school coach. I hope this answers your question, and I certainly hope you don't take any offense to my answer because I certainly didn't mean to offend you if I have.

There seems to be some confusion. I was under the impression that Hoskins ended up a Georgetown.

Didnt Hoskins go to an SEC school first or was it an ACC school. He then transferred to G-Town. Somwonw please correct me if Im wrong

Yes. I'm pretty sure he went to South Carolina first. I think he was a freshman the last year Fogler was coach. I'm not 100% sure on this.

I believe you are correct

After talking to a few of the parents they pretty much have told me that the new coach has beeen picked already and his ties is pretty local.

Who is it?

My guess would be Todd Messer, the former Fleming coach. He has made it well-known that he should have gone to Clay a few years back when he had the chance.

A few years back? When did he have the chance to go to Clay as coach before?

I sure would like to see Clay hire Messer. I believe he is the right man for the job.
