I can't even begin to tell you how much money I haven't been able to earn from all these games affected by rain or the threat of rain. It's getting ridiculous and I don't think its getting better this weekend either.

 

Oh I bet man. I have a work outing at the Saturday game and the forecast doesn't look promising.

I'm not a bit happy with how the Reds handled the game tonight. They should have called the game a lot earlier than they did knowing what the forecast was for the night.

Totally disagree. I drive 2.5 hours, pay $15 for parking and enter the stadium, and they call it at 7:40. Totally ridiculous. Should have called it way before then knowing the forecast they had.

I don't remember the exact amount of time but I've sat through a few delays of at least 2-3 hours before they finally decided to pull the plug and cancel the game.

 

If they know for sure there's going to be clearing than I'm all for waiting a couple hours to begin the game. They have a pretty good idea watching the radar if they are going to be able to play or not. There's no need to have people sitting around for an hour or more waiting on the game to start and then cancel it.

Particularly with an interleague opponent and a presumably good ticket base if you look at attendance from WED night. I thought they would be there until at least 9:00 or 10:00 before they banged it.

I am sure Price was "begging" for the rainout. Given the condition of the bullpen, Leake was going to have to go 7 innings regardless of how many runs he gave up. The ol' "take one for the team." Think it is the home team's call until the game starts (then the umpires make the decision), so that may have played a role in the decision.

They could have had you standing around until 9:30 - 10:00 before they decided to postpone it. Especially considering they were facing a team that isn't going to be on their schedule the rest of the year (home or away).

 

If the forecast was looking so bad, why go? You bought tickets the day of the game I thought? And I want people to show up no matter what, but with the forecast last night, no way I'm driving up without tickets to go to that game last night.

Myself and several of my fellow vendors were pretty bummed that the weather ruined these two days. Not often we have that many fans in the ballpark on a Wed & Thurs night. Could have been a nice two day combo in the middle of the week.

We waited as long as possible to buy our tickets. I didn't have access to the radar equipment the Reds had. They should have cancelled the game by 6 or so knowing what they knew.

I was about to say the same thing. Not saying it hasn't, but outside of a major national event (e.g. 9/11, Boston bombing, and etc.) I don't think I've ever heard of a professional sporting even being cancelled early.

They delayed the game before the storm hit.

And yes the Reds have cancelled games before the start of scheduled games before.

Heck on Opening Night, they didn't even start the game until like 9:45.

 

Game against the Cubs earlier this year, they didn't decide to officially postpone the game until 3+ hours after the scheduled start (That wasn't a 7:10 game though).

I can only speak to the three years experience I have of working there and they haven't done it, even when it would have made since to.

Be nice if it just quit raining or having a threat of rain every single homestand.

Marlon Byrd should be back to the big club soon. He ripped a HR into the bay a couple nights ago for Pensacola although you can't really tell and had a Double last night which won't count because the game was eventually postponed. Not sure when he's eligible to come off the DL.

 

Also I thought it was pretty cool that he's wearing his Reds helmet on his rehab assignment.
