Another rough night for the Kentucky girls against Indiana.

 

Maci Morris and Alexis Brewer led Kentucky with 14 points apiece.

 

KY was 1 for 25 from outside.

So is KY girl's talent down or IN talent way up? To add to that, a NKY team won the state championship. That's never happened either. Not knocking any of the girls at all, just curious as to why this margin and the fact that another surprise happened earlier in the year with the state tournament. Is it a coincidence or related?

Lack of a point guard probably didn't help matters.

Which is exactly why we need to continue to have a tryout OR create a better pool system to compete with Indiana. Indiana has a camp/farm system that they use to identify and organize talent from sophomore class and above... Been doing it that way for over 15 years..

The decision to not have tryouts came as a surprise to many followers of the Kentucky All-Star team and those familiar with the process followed in recent years. Possibly I was inattentive to an earlier announcement, but I am still wondering when was the decision made, who made it, why was it done this way, and why was it not communicated prior the team being announced?

Obviously it worked out splendidly---dripping with sarcasm!!! But I attended tryouts in the recent past and it was not a productive process---it was chaos putting it bluntly! They need to do a legit tryout and have unbiased people pick the best team possible. That being said I think Indiana has had a little better talent recently but it shouldn't be embarrassingly better???

It's a tough challenge to get the Kentucky girls back on track, to be sure, and won't be an easy fix. Might a recurring "Coach Emeritus" be a good way to go, or are there any other suggestions? There are quite a few accomplished ladies/men coaches who have recently left the sidelines capable of filling the void. Hmmm, for starters, to name just a few: Sally Zimmerman, Nell Fookes, Tony Kays, Mark Evans, Stacy Pendleton ... and I'm certain that additional names can be added.

Could not agree more Retro! Lack of funds appears to be a factor IMO. Indiana has several big time $$ sponsors.
