DragonFire Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 I think Coach Riley really wanted back in the state, and the position he got (Dean of Students) is one that I know he's wanted in the past. Owensboro Catholic is also a private school, so my assumption is that doesn't mess with is retirement. It's a tough district, but no tougher than the district he entered when he became coach at Warren Central all those years ago.
the game guy Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Christian Co really messed up on his as he really wanted the job and was passed over by a guy the left them before the season started!

I have no doubt he'll do well there contending for All A state titles and 3rd Region crowns. There will be some talent in O'boro who would love to play for a guy with a state championship ring, who plays a fun system that provides lots of opportunities for stars to emerge.

Contending for 3rd Region crowns will definitely be a step forward for OCHS. I'm not sure they have ever been to the state tournament during the 75 years they have been playing basketball.
devils advocate Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Riley was in a tough district with Warren Central. But he was at a school that historically was one of the better ones in the district from a talent stand point. Now he's at a school that currently sits last in the talent department in it's district IMO. The positive is Riley has no boundaries to pull from in a city/county with a large Catholic population. Things could get interesting.

JokersWild24 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Wow. Glad to here this for my friends from the Dirty 'Boro who went there. Could be a real sleeping giant.

I don't know what the situation is these days, but I know that in the past kids from Henderson went to the Catholic schools in Evansville.
broadcaster240 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Henderson Holy Name is K-8. Owensboro Catholic has never been to the Sweet 16. Was 3rd region runner-up in 2013, 2005, 1983, 1974, 1973, 1957, and a predecessor (St. Joseph) in 1947. Getting Tim Riley will make things even more interesting in Owensboro. I hope he will be pleased with his decision.
