June 1, 201511 yr If he and the rest of the Cavs come back, they could win 60-65 games next year. Should, but it just depends upon how much they want to coast through the regular season to save their legs for the playoff run. Though I think the Cavs are better without Love, if they wanted they could easily get to that 60 win number. Heck, LeBron got them over 60 wins a couple times with a much less talented roster in his first Cavs' stint. The health of Kyrie is more crucial to making it happen than Love.

I think if they added a Trevor Ariza type player it would be better for them. Love doesn't fit with that team.
June 1, 201511 yr Does the announcement say more about Kobe than it seems? Playing in LA is much better than playing in Cleveland. Is choosing LeBron an indication that Kobe is still too toxic for most? Don't get the sense that KL wants to work at his craft the way KB would want him too.

Is choosing LeBron an indication that Kobe is still too toxic for most? Don't get the sense that KL wants to work at his craft the way KB would want him too. Nah, not really. Kevin Love to LA is, was and still is a rumor. So is Rondo, DWade, Demarre Carroll, Lamarcus Aldridge and eventually Russell Westbrook.
June 1, 201511 yr Rumors going around that while Love is saying he wants to stay in Cleveland that Cleveland may not want Love anymore since they have proven to be able to win without him. Love is going to want a max contract beyond next season. Cleveland may want to give someone else max money. I'm not sold on Love playing in Cleveland the whole season next season.
June 1, 201511 yr I think the difference is that KL has ties to LA, unlike most others. Kobe wants guys to be just like him- except he wants to shoot all the shots.
June 1, 201511 yr I'm sorry Kobe fans but no one wants to play with him while he's on the backside of his career and still wants to take all the shots. May be after Kobe retires before more star power is attracted to the purple and gold.
June 2, 201511 yr I'm sorry Kobe fans but no one wants to play with him while he's on the backside of his career and still wants to take all the shots. May be after Kobe retires before more star power is attracted to the purple and gold. While I don't disagree with your whole statement I do still think the whole "nobody wants to play with Kobe" stuff is overblown. It's more like...."nobody who wants to be The Man" wants to play with Kobe and I get that. If I'm Kobe and I'm getting 25 million a year and getting full support from the franchise to still be The Man then I'm not going to play second fiddle to anyone not named Lebron and Lebron was never coming to LA so there you have it. I'll be the first Laker fan/Kobe guy to admit that they will attract more "star power" free agents when Kobe is gone but let's not act like there have been true "star power" team building guys available that the Lakers missed out on because of Kobe. Other than Dwight who else has there been that has had a realistic shot at coming to LA? Carmelo? Please....he wasn't coming to LA. He wanted the money. Otherwise he'd have gone to Chicago. Who else has there been?
June 2, 201511 yr Author LeBron has made it very clear he is a big fan of Tristan Thompson. The kid is going to get PAID after this year. I'm not convinced LBJ believes Kevin Love is mentally tough enough.

June 2, 201511 yr They don't win the East without Thompson. They won the East without Love. They were winning the East regardless if Thompson or Love were playing. After Cleveland's slow start (19-20), they've gone 46-10. A few of those losses were after things were decided during the regular season. Everyone keeps acting like this is the Jimmy V's '83 NC State team. Now if the opponents were at full strength, then maybe. But were people really buying the Bulls or Hawks as a legit threat even if they were healthy? No. They were the favorites before and after Love got injured. But I do think they are better with Thompson.

Everyone keeps saying their opponents weren't at full strength. Who was hurt on the Bulls and entering the Hawks series the Cavs were less at full strength than the Hawks. No Varejao, No Love and No KI. No way they win without Thompson. That wasn't happening. He was their second best player against the Hawks.

They weren't winning a thing without him on the interior and Rose is made of sheet rock and only good every other game. The Hawks had two guys on their roster that could try and guard LeBron. Thabo Sefolosha who was put on the DL by the NYPD and a 1-legged DeMarre Carroll. They were relegated to throwing Paul Millsap on LeBron at times. It wasn't happening. Plus, it's still the Hawks. Give me the best player in the world that has made multiple deep runs in the playoffs over a collection of good role players that have never won a thing. There is a reason Cleveland was the betting favorite to win the NBA title this season, and it wasn't Kevin Love
