What does Fern Creek need to do to improve in 2015? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I'm not an expert but happy to get the ball rolling.

 

FC is making the move down to 5A this year after a 7-4 season in 6A. I'm hearing nothing but positive things...again, I'm not an insider but know a few people. I love the Lamarius Kinslow kid. All conversations about FC start with Lamarius...6'2" and 225 LB/TE/ATH. I feel like FC is moving in the right direction after the 7-4 season last year and the numbers are WAY up in the FC Optimist program. In the past, the numbers in the Optimist program would usually turn into success on the high school level. I remember...it wasn't that long ago, FC was pushing X and T for the top dog in Jefferson County. I love it when we see teams like FC playing top notch football with T, X and H. The FC Tigers can make some noise in 5A.

 

I was told over the weekend and I totally consider this word of mouth 2nd hand info...but worthy of discussion. FC could be a destination for Larry and Manny Harper based off of current or in progress address change. If so, could be a really good fit and I wish them luck. Might be wishful thinking for the folks inside the FC zip codes but you never know.

Winslow looked like the best football player on the field at the Kentucky Wesleyan camp this weekend. He most definitely passes the eye test. Win or lose FC- make sure he's the first kid who steps off the bus.

The last time The Creek pushed Trinity was 1978, with Jerry Smith, Rick Wright and company. Lost a heartbreaker.

 

Trinity won that game 13-10. The only win Fern Creek has against Trinity came all the way back in 1958, Trinity's fourth season, when Fern Creek won 19-13.

Can someone tell me how Fern Creek is moving to 5A when their administration says that enrollment numbers are up and the KHSAA enrollment reports indicate that they are top 30 in enrollment. Who makes these decisions?

Some schools petitioned KHSAA to play in 6A because of travel. So then KHSAA starts at bottom of 6A asking if those schools want to play down. Remember only 32 schools in 6A so it wouldn't take long to get to Fern Creek.

 

And can you blame them? I would say they have a very good chance to win their region in 5A vs being in a district with Trinity and Ballard in 6A.

Congratulations to Lamarius Kinslow. Full ride to WKU. 6-2 and 225 and the fact that he shows up to camps and shows out landed him a scholarship. They have no idea as to which side of the ball he will play on...but I guarantee he will play.

This young man was the best all around football player in all of 6A last year. WKU would be a step down for this young man, IMO.
