That linebacking group is a tough one. I don't know if last season is able to be replicated but I would like to see it. If that schedule is final I will have to be at the game against Ashland.

Raceland's LB crew will be as good as there is around our area.

As for the Dist. 7 race this season, I look for it to be highly competitive. Paintsville returns a lot from their very good 2014 team that blew out Pikeville in the Region semi.. Fairview will be greatly improved and they have a very good QB to run their offense. Raceland, should the returning players from last season step it up and work like they have with the previous two or three Ram teams, the Rams have the chance for another good season. One never really knows if the "previous underclassmen" are going to do what is required to really take it to another level and be A Leader. Should they do so then the Rams will be in the hunt for a dist. 7 "three peat" title.

To clarify, I did mean by last year will be hard to replicate meaning the whole team.. not the linebackers. I would give them the definite best linebackers in the area.

The one thing that our coaching staff has done well is platoon and to find as many players to play and allow many players to be one way players and not have to be on the field all the time. Coach Lucas was able to do that with Collins 2 years ago and was able to defeat Highlands. By applying this to last year's team, he now has Collins back in the hunt this year. If Raceland is going to 3-peat, we will have to continue this trend.

I also have seen this finalized elsewhere. Looks to be a pretty good schedule. I personally don't believe it is as challenging as years past, however, I believe it is still one of the strongest in NEKY, especially 1A.

 

What about this schedule leads you to believe that past season's have been tougher? I really think this may the hardest one Raceland has played in a while. No Nicholas County and Paintsville is far from the whipping boy nowadays that they were a few short years ago. Lucasville Valley in Ohio has been one of the best teams in this area of the state of Ohio each of last 4 plus years and Portsmouth West is a solid program that always plays sound football. Not to mention Russell and Greenup County's improvement along with it being Quinton Baker's senior football season at APB. The Carter's and GC are the only questionable games and West and Greenup both should be very competitive this season.

I agree with you. This will be the most (potentially) challenging schedule Raceland has played since I have been around. I have been here since 2006.

Lucasville Valley should be really good again and West Portsmouth should be as good, if not better than last season.

Look good but the only thing that I have against black jerseys are early in the season (Aug./Sept.) Black draws heat, would make the early season heat that much worse.

Are they still wearing the White plus the Orange pants ? Either one of those would look great with the jerseys. I don't like the all Black Uni's. I hope that they will keep the Orange helmets, or maybe White if they go with a new color helmet........ Yes, I'm picky about stuff like that, lol.

As I have said before, I am not a huge style fan but one thing the jerseys can do is attract guys who have wanted to play football for awhile out to the field because of what they see. Just my opinion of course. Jerseys have no effect on what the outcome of the game is, but I see it more of a magnet for kids who want to wear the jersey.
