Well, Don Draper has departed from our television sets. Through all of his mishaps, lies, womanizing, brilliance, and Old Fashions, Dick Whitman, err... Don Draper left a profound impact. In true fashion we are left with Don doing Yoga (alms, specifically) and presumably his hippie retreat served as inspiration to the next great Coke commercial.

Peggy oddly finds true love in a flimsy sort of way to wrap up the series; lazily done I say. You just want to fast forward to 1980 to see if she ever got that big break. My guess is she is still living in Don's shadow, being moody and bitter.

Joan takes on coke as well and it serves as her own inspiration to start a home based business. My hope is she checked with local zoning officials to see if it is a permitted use. I think her business fails.

Roger Sterling suddenly speaks French and married for him an older woman, but he is still a pimp. Gonna miss that dude.

Pete Campbell gets back with Trudy - who was one of my favorite characters who never got enough air time - and one can only assume Pete finds a way to ruin his marriage in Wichita, Kansas. He was cast to be a villainous pest, and he did that. Never has one person uttered the words, "I like that Pete Campbell guy."

I thought that the last 4-5 episodes were the worst of the series. Seeing how everyone else ends I got, but the whole thing with Don just blew. Even if his experience in CA gives him the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" song. Bad way to get it there.

I totally agree

Just didn't get any thing with Don's character this whole short season

Good synopsis. I found the inner workings of the ad biz much more fascinating than the alcoholic Don Draper trying to come to terms with his past. Will need to find a new show now for Sunday primetime.

Completely disagree. The first two episodes of the second half of this season were awful but there were about three or four absolute classics in the final episodes.

The wife who is a huge Mad Men fan wants to know which episodes you thought were classic. She agrees with buttels that the last episodes were all bad - totally corny and not true to the Mad Men brand. It is like the smart writers all signed off before the final season.

^ Wow. Thought they nailed this down perfectly. Don's ending couldn't have been more "Don Draper". Campbell has made hints for years that he hated what the city had become and he finally left it. Roger married yet another woman. Peggy got what she'd wanted: a man that actually understands her and why she does what she does.

For the record, if the last we'd have ever seen of Peggy was her getting drunk with Roger then rolling into McCann like a bat out of hell, I'd have been cool with that too, but I enjoyed her finally getting a happy moment and a finale with Don as the two of them were the most important characters in the show.

As for classics, "Time and Life" and "The Milk and Honey Route" were both great.

What specifically are the problems with the way it wrapped up?

The whole thing with the waitress was a waste of script. I liked most of what happened after that.

I thought the ending was pretty well done. The whole Peggy thing was weird. She goes from saying I "never really think of you" to saying "yes I do love you" in about 30 seconds on the phone. That was strange IMO. I was OK with the rest of it. I cannot imagine how hard it is for writers to come up with the ending story lines for a show that has gone on for seven years.

I am with those of you who think The Waitress story was a huge complete waste of time. There are so many ways that they could have touched on other stories and completely skipped that.

Best episodes of the second half of the series was The Forecast where SC&P make a last ditch effort to hold on and set up a California shop. And Time & Life with the wrap up at the SC&P offices with Roger/Peggy and Don's departure.

I was never a fan of Meagan Draper, so I wish they would have just wrapped that up in last years show. She was a horrible character.

I thought the finales was solid especially with the scenes of Don/Betty and Stan/Peggy (although that was a weird series of how to profess your love). The ending scene with Don was ok, but I would have rather have seen him make his return to McCann Erricson to get his job back and pitch the Coke add.

I wish they would have done something better with Roger.
