If playing D3. For sure. If D2 most will pay something. 120 kids on roster and 24 full rides split up amoung a bunch. Yes 95% will be paying something and walk ons. Of course your walking on. Paying for school like every student at the school.

Actually, D2 offers are often better than FCS. Pioneer league is FCS and they don't offer anything. Patriot league offers partial scholarships, but they are 60k/per year schools, so partials really don't help. Of coarse the Ivies don't offer you anything either.

 

Unless your intent is try and make it in the NFL, FBS really isn't all its cracked up to be. 1/3 of the roster is filled with some extremely talented, low character folks that I for one, don't care to have my son around. In addition, the turnover and pressure to win is ridiculous.

 

In FBS, kids are basically just cattle that are a means to an end.

If an FCS wants a recruit they can more easily offer a free education. Also FCS can only give 85 players football money. D2 can give some money to every player.

In fairness, who in NKY would have a state title in old 4A or 6A in that same time frame? Highlands maybe would have 2 or 3. That is the only school.
